We have family that lives in Woonsocket so we have been frequenting Walnut Hill Bowl for a long time. We also have experience with Ryan’s from their other locations on the Cape and game rooms in other businesses (we used to play games at Orlean’s Bowl when it was a Ryan’s). So you can imagine our excitement when we found out Walnut Hill was going to be a Ryan’s!
After visiting a handful of times, it’s been less busier than before the change of hands - and from the outside, it looks closed? Bowling prices have increased significantly (with no weekly specials anymore). The new arcade is a plus coming from the old arcade with tokens, tickets, and a prize machine. However, most of the games are noticeably more expensive than nearby Ryan’s locations and on the cape. After we went bowling, my kids blew through a $50 card, which would usually last them over an hour down the cape. With the change of hands, I would think they would cater to the regulars that have been going there for years. But it seems like these might be some of the reasons they’re not as busy anymore.
Will report back in the winter after the renovations complete, but for now, it doesn’t feel like a Ryan’s. Maybe it was just high hopes, but I expected more...
