I didn't want to leave any stars but I had no choice. The gm at this place is very rude and doesn't know how to problem solve. I had the worst experience of my gym life here; the GM Harry Thanos is very unprofessional; what I experienced today was very discouraging and almost made me want to give up on even going to the gym; my neighborhood gym closed so we were forced to go here. And i hate that we were; but upon the closing of the gym they didn't care to mention we can only go to oaklawn if we started our membership on 119th. And that was poor communication to customers from LA fitness itself. Upon arriving April 6th; and let's not forget to mention, that I had been goin here all that week with no problem. I was up in a debate about paying my Esporta but since they closed the home gym I felt as though it will be best to just pay it because I will probably be moving around from gym to gym. So I paid the Esporta membership in order to be able to go to the LA on 95th that was what was told to us... it wasn't told that you have to had started your membership at 119 to go to 95th. But I get there and scan in; the gm (HARRY)flew from the back of the counter so fast I thought he was superman. But he flew to tell me I couldn't come in because my esporta wasn't from 119th at that point I'm completely lost; but was refused entry but offered a upgrade and I said why would upgrade anything and I just paid my gym bill to be able to come here with no problem; So my friend had sent me a free 7 day so I tried to use it. And they refused to let me use that but definitely made sure to offer an upgrade again; this is all literally in a 30 min span; but I was told I couldn't use the 7 day free guest pass cause I'm a esporta member; which I was confused again because if you're denying me entry because I'm an esporta member wouldn't that make me a guest to LA at that point; but no it didn't I was told that by me being a esporta member that didn't start it's membership on 119th that I can't use the 7-Day guess pass; and again I say I had been there all week. So I was extremely frustrated; I have a team that I meet at the gym cause I'm a powerlifter; it was very discouraging to see them and not be able to workout with them. But instead of this GM Harry finding a resolution he wanted me to upgrade and pay which I thought was insane if I already paid my bill why am I upgrading anything the reason why I paid my bill was to have access here. Without even knowing that I will have to be from 119th to come there that was NEVER told to me before the closing of 119th. Long story short I was not able to work out and that messed my whole day up and my weekend and weeks to come. Because now I have nowhere to work out that's near me or with my team. And that hurts my soul. I'm leaving this review because things could've been handled differently. But I had to call cooperate to get a refund for the membership I just paid because their are no Esporta's within a 25 mile radius of me. The home gym I came from I only came from that gym because I was working in the area at that time which was 2 years ago I didn't think it made a difference what home gym I came from as long as I had a esporta. But now Im back to square one; trying to find a home/gym. Cause now I don't even feel comfortable working out on 95th or being a member...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSigned up by the big guy in glasses. Harry I believe. The guy that tried pushing a bunch of extra stuff onto me and then criticizing me if I knew what I was doing just because I gained weight recently. Then tells me 30/mo with a guest pass and this and that and then signed me up with a 40/mo membership without being able to bring a guest pass. Didn't even tell me strait forward about the annual fee I had to ask him several times just to confirm what everything would be and then he just agrees with me because I specifically said so 30 this month 30 for last month and a 45$ initial fee and he said right yes YES he said. Then I wanted to bring my mother for some water activity at countryside since she's disabled some water yoga and hottub would help her loosen up while I work out. I go and ask the front desk politely to get a waiver for my mother as my guest and they tell me view my app to have her as my guest and after viewing my profile they tell me that my contract doesn't include a guest pass. We'll I guess that's messed up. Then they say we can cancel your membership yet you'll still be charged an annual fee and still have a month and a half left to use since it would been my 2nd week going and I paid first and last months bill. So I'd of had paid 165$ for two months at a gym if I wait two months to resub which then would be a whole other initial fee and different monthly fee. Like why couldn't he of been upfront in the first place. I worked out on a 3day guest pass and waited 35 minutes to speak with the guy to sign up and got lied to and spoke down upon for a half an hour signing and putting my initials on forms he was hurrying me up to sign "you'll get copies sent to your email don't worry" yeah bs... then I asked for a physical card and not an app scanner. I asked the front desk to help and they said go on the app hit the buttons fill out your info and you'll get one I ask her to since I couldn't find it then after like 3 minutes she scans my phone I'm like I thought you were doing this to get me a physical card. She said no that would've costed 10 bucks. Like I cared about ten bucks after I just spend over a hundred on the subscription to the gym that I got screwed on either way..... I try calling and can't get ahold of Mr Harry or anyone at the gym. And it's 30 minutes away. As I was visiting each gym to find my preferred spot to get my pass. Also NONE of the locations I've went to so far have either towels or a suit dryer. Nothing can be perfect thus I strive for perfection everyday but never expect it but I do expect the honest truth. That's my rant. Hope this helps people not experience what i...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHours were originally M-Th 5-11p; F 5-10p; S-S 8-8p. This location cut an hour each day almost immediately after opening, which is the first problem as it was never posted during sign-up that this was going to be a permanent change (false advertisement from the start). Then, the Alsip location, a much more spacious location, closed and their patrons migrated to this one, resulting to extreme overcrowding. When asked if their hours would at least go back to the original advertised hours to accommodate for the influx of people, the associate snickered and said she doubts it. She said we should just "see if people will cancel their memberships or if the Alsip patrons will end up going elsewhere." That was her advice.
This is a poorly managed facility owned by greed. They prefer to reduce operational costs and squeeze everyone in like a can of tuna. They do not care about their paying customers once you sign that contract, pay that exorbitant amount of upfront costs, AND an unexpected "annual fee" only 2 weeks into your membership.
My husband and I canceled our memberships, as it was a gross waste of money. But even that process was a tactic to milk every dollar out of people. There's no option to cancel online or on the app, and they make you go in-person between working hours of M-F 9-5p. I called their corporate customer service line to tell them that those hours are absurd, as we work during that time. And as another tactic to delay time and ultimately more money from people, he said he could mail me a cancelation form. What are we, back in 1995?
Quality honest customer service is a lost art. Save your money and pass...
