I absolutely love finding local Gems like this one! The atmosphere is great! Real Space Cats meets Arcade! The decor is great! With plenty of cool things to look at. The arcade games are kept really well with plenty of space to enjoy. MOST of the cat's are friendly, but definitely not all. So be warned. We were scratched and hissed at. The scratch was pretty deep, and what sucked was that we weren't even trying to pet the cat that got us, we were reaching across to pet another one beside it. It's expected with cats. But I wish we could have known prior which cats to look out for. I do have some suggestions that could make this a much cat and people friendlier interaction. I would suggest putting a collar on the cats that has their names. This makes it easier to know what cat you are petting. Adding a color coded collar system to know what cats are friendly and usually welcome petting is really helpful so that we don't end up pissing any-cat off. Perhaps green for cats who welcome pets, and blue for cats that usually welcome pets, and red for cats who would rather be left alone. Something like that. We did end up seeing a section in the game room that has the names and stories of these furfriends. It would be helpful to see this inside the cat room, as it makes it easier to know who each cat is. Perhaps then we would have known which cat would rather be left undisrupted. (I am looking at you, buttons!) Overall- good experience. I believe everyone would benefit from that color coded collar system though! Food...
Read moreVideo games and cats seems like an odd combination, but it works because there's heart behind it. At first glance, this business is a place to play retro video games like the Star Wars speeder game (If you're over 40, you might remember this),Tekken, pinball, and even a large scale Connect Four and more--but once inside the real purpose for this retro gaming establishment becomes clear.
Pet adoption is the game here. The cats are the real attraction complete with each cat's bio info just in case you might want to take home a furry friend. This is not a loud room with noisy whirring and salvos of other bit-type sounds. We found it very relaxing. The cats do too. We enjoyed many cuddles and play time in between the video games.
The staff was friendly, admission is priced well at $5-$10 a person, which more than pays for the unlimited games you can play in an hour. Stop by and enjoy a relaxing chill time. It's the PURR-fect place to whiff nostalgia (and maybe pass it along to other younger humans), but more importantly it's a great place to maybe find your...
Read moreIf you have a love for animals, and want your money to go to an incredible cause and organization, you must visit the PurrGround. The people that run and work at this facility have a 24/7 mindset of doing the best for animals in their care. When donation funds are low, they reach into their own pockets to cover expenses from basic care to extreme vet bills. No animal goes without.
The artwork painted on the walls is all original and absolutely stunning. It's meticulously clean, and the arcade games are a nice bonus to the cats you get to play with.
The fee to get in, is the lowest I've ever paid to enter similar establishments. $13 is a small price to pay to help house, feed and contribute to all care necessary. It's less than most boxes of cat litter.
If you are up in Wrightwood, or in the surrounding area and are just looking for something different to do, while making a difference, head over to the arcade for a...
