Office Depot — Local services in Yakima

I have been taking my teacher planner to Office Depot for years with no problems. However within the last three years the climate and customer service has gone down hill. As you enter the store they look at you like you are a possible thief and a nuisance. The tall guy that helps with computers seems to be always in a bad don’t talk to me mood and the cashiers don’t even make eye contact with you. One time as I was approaching the counter to pay, the cashier walked off, looked at me as if I was stupid and said nothing. The girl at the printing station just stared at me. Neither of them directed me or offer to help. Zero customer service. This year I was hesitant to take my planner but I gave them one more chance. I should have listed to my gut feeling. The young girl messed up my simple binding job not once but twice. I just gave up the second time. I will absolutely not go back to Office Depot. They have lost their way and have forgotten that the key to a successful business is excellent customer service. There are other places to try like Yakima Bindery. And no, there is nothing that Office Depot can do to repair this customer service...

I needed to print a label for a fedex shipment and was having problems. You see online it claimed I should be able to purchase my shipment and simply go to a location and show them the barcode generated by my purchase and they would print a label I could stick on it and have it shipped. Turns out that is not at all how it works and if it hadn’t been for Mindy at the union gap Office Depot I would have totally lost my mind over the confusion I kept running into trying to get a label printed. Walgreens in West Vally 6400 block had no idea how to even use a printer, the FedEx shipping center on Washington can’t print, or just doesn’t print, their own labels for shipping? They sent me to Office Depot who at first said the same thing about not printing labels but Mindy at least understood the process failure and walked me through a process that resulted in me getting a label on my package. Thank You Mindy for being awesome and getting the core of my problem and solving it with a great attitude, and plenty of empathy. I will be coming here for my shipping...

This store is bright, clean, well-organized and well-stocked. Sales associates are generally attentive and helpful. I have worked with an associate in this store whose name is Alison twice--once in the copy center and once in the other part of the store. She is so kind and helpful. For both visits I had complicated things to solve, and both times she patiently and kindly helped me and I walked out of the store with exactly what I needed. She knew the store well and helped me find what I needed, and helped me do what I need to do in a timely manner. I always feel better about the world each time I come in and work with Alison in this store because this young woman extends genuine kindness to me (and probably to others who come into the store too). I wish more stores encouraged kindness and helpfulness in their associates. This may seem insignificant, however a little bit of kindness...
