I took an older iphone in for a screen replacement &since I was having trouble w/ getting the phone to switch apps, I asked them if they could replace the center button to see if that would help, since it didn’t respond when I’d click it. They agreed &said to come back in an hour.
I went back in a little over an hr later &they came out &showed me the phone w/ the new screen on, but opened up, &said the button wasn’t the prob w/ the apps &asked if I could pick it up tmrw. When I hesitated, the person said to just wait until the tech who knows more gets there &they close @7 so go back then. I did, which made the total time spent to get a now non-functioning phone back, ~5 hrs.
I go back for the 2nd time, &the guy they’d been waiting for explained for a long time, what makes a phone malfunction &gave me my phone back w/ the same broken screen. He said that it had some water damage &was a little bent, &alluded to “it probably was going to stop working soon anyway.” He explained how they’d tried different things on it to try &figure out why the apps weren’t changing &realized that it wasn’t going to turn on anymore.
I didn’t know there was water damage, nor that opening up a phone w/ potential water damage could kill it. I get things happen, but inform your customers of risks &don’t give them the run around when something goes wrong. @no point before that last convo did I know my phone no longer turned on &that I’d been waiting for some “hail Mary” to be performed. They’d asked for a # to contact me in case there were any issues ¬ once was I contacted. When I’d 1st gone back they made it seem like things were fine &they were just waiting for the tech to try &fix the issue of my apps not switching(which wasn’t the focus. I asked to switch the button &if it didn’t work that was fine, but I know now it didn’t matter b/c they weren’t able to turn it back on).
The tech tried to deflect &say I didn’t tell them there was water damage(he also said one of the sensors didn’t go off, but still reasoned it was the primary issue) then reiterated that it was “probably going to stop working anyway.” I said yea, but it might not have been that day, and them working on it caused it to not work now. He mentioned a repair shop in tri maybe being able to get it back on b/c they have some kind of machine that they don’t have, but I was also irritated b/c @min, the initial service I went in for didn’t get done. He asked me if I was asking to get a new screen for free, &I said I’d gone in ready to pay for a new screen, &wasn’t sure why it didn’t get completed. He said when he couldn’t turn the phone back on, he removed the new screen &replaced it w/ old broken one b/c “he figured I wouldn’t want it since the phone didn’t turn on,” Why “figure” when you could have asked?
I asked him if this way of service was typical w/ customers whose phones they break &he tried to hypothesized what could have happened again, &I told him it’s yes or no ? He defeatedly said “well by the way you’re asking then yes, but this hasn’t happened for a long time, &maybe we need to be more clear w/ ppl &ask about water damage &tell them what could happen if they do.” When I’m almost @the door the older man asks to see my receipt to charge me $25 &the tech told him no I was good (that part especially annoyed me b/c he initially gave me an arbitrary discount @initial drop off), &it felt spiteful that he was after the fact trying to charge me. 2stars only b/c the tech @the end seemed to have some remorse but seemingly poor guidance from the older man & his colleague that initially worked...

Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS. Over the past month, my wife brought her iPhone to this shop four separate times for a screen replacement, and every single screen they installed turned out to be terrible quality failing within days from normal use or a minor drop. The first screen cost $270, which was outrageously overpriced for the garbage they installed. It stopped working after a very light fall, and when we went back, they barely helped, only offering a $20 discount on the second screen.
After the third failure, they refused to give a refund or discount, making it clear they were using the cheapest, lowest-quality parts possible and banking on customers paying again and again for their trash repairs. At that point, I told them I would leave a bad review if they didn’t make it right. After I had left, they called me offering to replace the screen for free.
Unfortunately, this fourth screen, the one they installed after making that promise, turned out to be the worst one yet. The colors were completely off, the screen randomly turned blue, and it was so bad you couldn’t even see accurate colors on the phone anymore. It was hands down the lowest quality iPhone screen I have ever seen.
They also insisted on taking my wife’s PIN code when we left the phone, which was a huge red flag for privacy...
