From a long time restaurant and multi store owner.
Lobsters are great and priced fairly. Although... When you go to a Cape you expect better prices compared to Wegmans and Whole food in a Greater Boston Area. Variety - give me a break. Faeroe Island and ..... HAVE SOME LOCAL. Will pay double for that. Only 2 people are knowledgeable. The owner and another guy. Do not want to mention who is not. Teach your front people before a season starts. It is close to the end and you are loosing money because of that. Have some must haves - sauces, crackers, coleslaw, marinated mussels...... You have a great location, but brick and mortar stores also have great internet present. Check your web site. It is updated 2/ year. " We are open.... We are closed" . Really? Specials, blah-blah-blah. That attracts customers especially millennials (I am far from being one unfortunately). Selection again. Having 1 type of oyster on a Cape will not make you any favor. Not sure if there is a Restaurant Depot here but I am sure you can get a delivery via Instacart. A huge bag of oysters is ~ $40. That is not a waste even if you will trash 1/2 at the end of the day. Although.... You can keep them on ices for 3-4 days. I wish you good luck. Keep it as a family business. And take some marketing courses. They are almost free now. Will stop by later for oysters. :-) I WILL BE glad to revise my rating when I'll see some changes. Hard business to be...
Read moreWe ordered lobsters and steamed clams for pick up. The owner was so nice and friendly to us. I had a lot of questions about each type of fish he was selling, where it was from and how fresh was it etc. He was extremely patient and educated my wife and I about the local fishing industry.
As for the food we ordered, it was the best packing we have ever seen on a to go order. The food was put inside a plastic bin to keep it warm, and the flavor is competitively similar to how Maine does their lobsters and clams. Mind you we spend so much time going to Maine a few times yearly just for the lobsters, and this is our first time trying out how Cape Cod lobsters taste. I kid you not, it's the same flavor!
The lobster price is also reasonable but admittedly more expensive than how it is in Maine but it's not a deal breaker for me, and I have to admit the clam prices are cheaper here than other places including in Maine. If you have a place to eat your to go lobsters and can grill or fry fresh seafood then please give this place a try. You will not be...
Read moreI went in to buy a lobster as I have done for years from this fish market. I always make sure to ask for a hard shell which means the lobster is full of meat. Because it was late and I have been happy in the past I did not check to make aure. As soon as I got home and felt the shell I knew it was too soft. It was too late to return it so I cooked it and from a 3lb lobster I got about 4 ounces of meat and took several pictures.all of this would have been fine until I returned and explained it to the owner who was unwilling to do anything about it even after seeing the pictures. I will not visit this establishment again and will buy my live lobsters from Ring Brothers who only sell hard...
