Absolutely Disgusting – Do NOT Stay Here The Mariner “Resort” in West Yarmouth, Cape Cod We booked a month-long stay and were promised “the best room in the hotel” since we were staying so long. They assured us we’d be a top priority. Instead, we were put in one of the filthiest, most neglected rooms I’ve ever seen, tucked in the back, nowhere near the pool view we were told we’d have. When we brought this up, they told us to wait until after the holiday (a week away) because they were “too busy” to accommodate us. The room was absolutely disgusting. The door didn’t lock properly and was so caked in grime and scum that you couldn’t even see out the glass. Inside, it was even worse: • Pubic hairs and blood stains on the sheets and pillowcases • Every single towel they brought us had stains—or actual blood on them • Ceiling falling apart above the shower and doorway (literal chunks of it would fall on us mid-shower) • Greasy handprints on mirrors and the bedpost • Shower drain clogged, with hair and mucus coming up when we ran the water • Outlets didn’t work—we couldn’t charge our phones or use hair tools • Bugs and spiders crawling along the walls, under the bed, and across the ceiling • Boogers on the lampshades • And the bed was rock hard—I would’ve been more comfortable sleeping on the floor All four of us were healthy upon arrival, but after just a few hours in the room we all developed severe allergy symptoms; sneezing, itchy throats, congestion, coughing. The moment we stepped outside the hotel, our symptoms would disappear. Every time we re-entered, they’d come right back. By the time we left, we were dealing with serious breathing issues. Then there’s the “free breakfast” amenity. The coffee and juice machines were coated in mold, yes, mold. I took photos and videos. All four of us got sick after drinking it. I reported it to the front desk multiple times over the 12 days I stayed, and they didn’t care at all. They looked me in the eye, lied about cleaning it, and made no effort to fix the situation, even after I showed proof. On top of all that, the hotel environment felt completely unsafe. There were known drug users and prostitutes openly staying on the property. It was uncomfortable and unsettling to walk to our room at night, and not once did management seem to monitor or address who was on the premises. And as if that weren’t enough—the hotel advertises itself as “newly renovated” and a “resort.” We stayed here years ago and can confirm there has been absolutely zero renovation done. That claim is completely false and misleading. This place is not just dirty, it’s a health and safety hazard. Management is unprofessional, unresponsive, and dishonest. Do not book here under any circumstances. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

Don’t be fooled by the ‘resort’ in the title. This is a below average motel. Upon staying at this hotel, I unfortunately experienced a range of issues that significantly impacted the quality of my stay. I ended up checking out early and finding another hotel. To start, The A/C was non-adjustable, making it either too hot or too cold in the room with no middle ground. The walls are also extremely thin, so you hear everything and eveyone. The guest next door to us was not mentally stable and was having loud conversations (with himself) outside of our door until 3 am. Hygiene was another major area of concern. The toilet had flushing issues, and there was black mold on the bathroom ceiling. There were cobwebs in the bathroom. The alarm clock was also broken. To add insult to injury, the shower bar unexpectedly fell on my head as I went in to take a shower. In terms of in-room amenities, the screen door was broken, and the sliding door was noticeably dirty. The bed was uncomfortable, making restful sleep a challenge. That all said, There were a few redeeming qualities. There is a mini golf facility outside and two pools. The resort itself is also in a good location, in short distance from many restaurants and beaches. And, while not exceptional, the customer service was satisfactory. While there is potential here for people who are only interested in pools and don’t care too much about noise and sanitation, major improvements are necessary for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

The room had a musty, odd smell and the desks and surfaces weren’t clean — there were visible fingerprints, which made the space feel neglected. The front desk staff was rude when we asked for simple things like extra pillows (only three for two people) and additional towels, which was disappointing. The breakfast was a huge letdown. The options were just frozen breakfast sandwiches (worse than Jimmy Dean, and I actually like Jimmy Dean). On top of that, the breakfast room was so crowded that I waited 20 minutes just to try to get a waffle and never even got one. On the positive side, the pool and hot tub were fantastic, even though a little old and rundown. Honestly, they were the highlight of the stay. The location was also great. But for the price ($240 a night), it wasn’t anywhere near worth it. At best, this hotel feels like it should be in the $80 per night range. I might consider coming back at a very cheap price, but for what we paid, the experience was disappointing.

There should be an option for less than a star this place is beyond un professional and sneaky!!!!! We called around to get rates.. This place had one of the cheapest when I called I told Patricia I wasn't sure weather my mom was coming or if we were staying 1 or 2 nights.. She told me that was fine and to give my card # and information to hold onto if we decided to stay there. So I did... (Stupid me) we called back as curdicy to tell them we were not going to be staying there she said that was fine but we were being charged for a night!!! HOW ?! we never confirmed OR signed anything.. No confirmation email was sent to me stating I had booked a room and their policy & I never technically told them I was definitely staying there or for how many night OR how many people or beds we needed! The woman I spoke to said she was the manager but wouldn't give me her name. She told me that she would call the owner and for me to call her back in 20 minutes as I'm watching $201 get drawn from my account!!!!! I called back immediately and told her she did not have permission to charge my card that I did not book a reservation of any sort and that the money needed to be put back into my account so we could travel 3 hours home for an emergency. She said that it wasn't her problem and "that's just how they did things" I was insulted and told that my " story didn't make sense to her" there was no story and we immediately turned around and went to this place my husband went in and spoke to a woman behind the desk, she called the owner and we were told the money would be reversed Monday morning and to call if it wasn't back into the account, well by 130 on Monday the money was not in the account and the bank said there was no activity on the account so I called and was told that the owner was "out on the road" I asked if he could be contacted regarding this and I got a ride response that "he's a busy guy and doesn't have time for this" well I do. I left my name and number and asked to receiver a call back as soon as he arrived. It's now 5 pm I called my bank again to ask if there was any activity... Again there was not so I called. The owe er was again not there and at another property, some asked what the number is there to get in touch and they can't give me that information. I left my name and number AGAIN!!! I told them that at 5pm on a Monday this should have been taken care of... These woman won't give out those names and won't give me any information! This place is a joke!!! Customer service?! There is none!! We didn't book a room and got charged anyways!!! They had no idea how many people or how many beds we would need so how am I getting charged?! The BBB WILL BE GETTING A CALL IF THIS IS NOT REAOLVED WITHIN 24 hours! It's already...

I usually don't write reviews...but after my 3rd time staying at this hotel I thought it was time. I gave this 2 stars for one main reason. If you are a family who doesn't get to travel much, and simple problems don't get to you, and budgeting is a big thing for you...then this is the place to stay. Yes, the back screen door knocks off sometimes, Your tv might get wacky, and the bathroom is a bit small. But, for the price, I think this hotel is worth it. Two pools, I do wish they were open all the time though. A great kitchen room with a big selection for hot and cold free breakfast. One big thing the hotel is lacking is a laundry room.

Now...This next part is why I'm writing a review. The hotel is fine...The GUEST population is UNACCEPTABLE. I am a mixed white and Puerto Rican woman, and my mother is a brown-skinned long curly black-haired Puerto Rican woman. I CAN NOT express enough how many times my mom was judged for the way she looks and not for who she is. She would say good morning to everyone and only received eye rolls back. Small comments coming from parents in front of their kids like "Let's take a long way around so we don't have to look at them." Once we were told to "go back home." We were born and raised in MASS! Other than staff, everyone was rude, unfriendly, judgemental...and you guessed it... WHITE.

The times we live in are changing. To experience prejudice and racism right in front of my eyes while on a vacation that both my mother and I worked hard for is disappointing and unacceptable. I can not imagine what a black person would feel like if they stayed here... nd btw we didn't see any black guests! It was disgusting to see firsthand and is the main problem in this world.

We as a state, country, and nation need to be better. And that is why I decided to write this review. I wish there were rules on being kind and consequences if you are not but, that won't happen anytime soon. If the manager and admin of this hotel truly do care about their guest and want to fix their prejudice and racist problem... Then at least some simple signs on the doors that read "BE KIND" would be a step in the right direction.

Hope this review helps someone who was curious...and really hope it helps the owners and I see...
