In a world where customer service is treated more like an HR department trying to limit the amount of expenditures, the guys at Sur Tan prove that true customer service still exists. They take their time to have conversations with every customer that walks in the door. If you're just looking to chat and browse, they still treat you as though you've spent thousands of dollars in their amazing shop.

High quality handmade leather goods surround the store, lining every single wall. When I couldn't find the belt I wanted, Richie and Steve helped me pick out some leather and made the belt in front of me. I was stunned. They are true craftsmen and will always have my support.

Last night, they proved once again to be the best in the business. I brought my mother down to the shop and she wanted to grab a couple gifts as well as a belt for herself. They took the belts and resized them immediately so that she had the perfect gifts. They both took time out of their day to explain the process behind making all of their wonderful leather goods. They showed her around each part of the shop and treated her like she owned the place.

If you are looking for a piece created and manufactured by people who have spent a lifetime honing their craft using methods and machinary that have, for the most part, faded away ... you owe it to yourself to check Sur Tan out. Their products ooze craftmanship and quality. Materials, design and finished quality are top notch and for me, hard to find these days in a world driven by volume and low cost manufacture. I visited their store on cape cod recently and purchased a fall coat maid of waxed sailcloth and Leather. It’s timeless design and quality are impossible to find and simply a pleasure to own. While at the Hearth and Kettle center, my wife and I happened upon this jewel of a business. We were pleased to not only view the hand-crafted, leather wonders of this business, but we were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the shop itself. Richie, one of the two Sur Tan brothers, showed us their process of getting the leather and other materials shipped in; then how they design, craft, patent, and market their products. They own the patents on a number of leather clothing and accessories. They’ve been in this business for nearly 60 years having been trained and given the business by their late father.
