vintage stores oftentimes have an inflated sense of the value of common stock records and a major blind spot for condition, and I understand that sometimes in an arrangement like this the record seller has to pay the vintage shop rent or give them a cut of sales and the pricing reflects this, but this shop truly has some of the most egregiously overpriced and incorrectly graded stuff Iāve ever seen in my 15+ years as a pretty voracious digger of most every shop in the metro area. Weāre talking like 20 bux on a truly whatever copy of that bob james record w the ladybug on it bad. Absolute punish dig. Smdh the whole time. Seller is obviously some sort of legit music head as evidenced by the Woody Shaw and Funkadelic records on the wall but they desperately need to get off Discogs and take a visit to nearly any other local shop (wyrd byrd, wazoo, encore, hello, peopleās, streetcorner, sound explosion, solo) and take notes and ask questions so they can join us in the real world of selling used records. Just really atrocious inattention to detail on grading, utter misinterpretation and abuse of data from online sales histories in the pricing. There are some people who just donāt know or care who will throw down on a trashed copy of frampton comes alive with a 400% markup, but I think itās fair to say that most record collectors with even an inkling of experience or knowledge would run out of this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy brother and I were visiting Ypsilanti today and came across this store, the store owner was extremely welcoming and super friendly. :) She welcomed us inside, and was an amazing conversationalist, super hilarious, and had the best stories and jokes to tell. Her coworker was super friendly as well! First time weāve felt welcome in a store in a very long time, it had so many amazing vintage items and records, t-shirts/clothing, and other vintage items. It felt very cozy and like a home, but also well kept and organized. She was LGBTQ-friendly which made us feel safe and welcome. We told her we were newly local artists, and we were very moved and inspired by her passion and willpower to run her own successful business. It gave us a lot of motivation and inspiration to start our own business in the future. Definitely check this store out if youāre in Ypsilanti, definitely our new favorite vintage store now. Itās such a gem and weāll definitely come back in the future! Thank you for such a wonderful experience, definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a gem of a place! I found out about A2 Vintage while looking up record stores.... and man amI glad I did! From the moment we walked in the door, it was nothing but a friendly and welcoming experience. The amount of vinyl records will blow your mind! There is something for everyone and for people of all ages. Hanging thru out the store are original band shirts and they were amazing to see! But one of my favorite parts of this store, was something we could not buy, it was Deb. What an amazing person! To hear her stores of how she even came into the business was captivating. Her knowledge of music is astounding! She even took the time out of her day to write us in her book for a certain record but also to tell us of other locally owned businesses and restaurants including giving us directions on how to get to them. In talking with Deb you could hear and feel the genuine care and love for her customers and community. Can't wait to...
