Let me be the first to say, we LOVE Wendy. She is the literal best, good job city of Ypsilanti for hiring her. She is a woman that juggles many hats and we appreciate her for this. Future brides and grooms looking for a wedding venue, let me tell you this is it! We sectioned ours off as ceremony on one side and reception on the other with cocktail hour outside/inside while our day of coordinator (DOC) moved the chairs from the ceremony to the reception table side to make the dance floor where the ceremony was. The venue is affordable number one, two Wendy was very communicative and three the tables/chairs/built in decor was included. Now you might be like but what about anything else, if you don't see this as a deal you haven't looked at other places. Go look and come back and you'll see what I mean. One thing I will say, you pay a trash fee if you don't take the trash with you, that's the downside, which by the way Ypsilanti we have to figure out a work around for that, we completely forgot about it until the attendant reminded us at 8pm so we accepted the charge. Also, people crashed our party and we had some homeless guy come in, Ypsilanti we have to find a solution for that too, I don't know what that is, but we had to tell them "to get out", and this is not something WE should be doing. Now we did have to get vendors approved, which I agree it is an old building they want to make sure the vendors are credible and again go check out some other places that will restrict you to their "overpriced" vendors and you'll realize Ypsilanti Frieghthouse is the best ever. PS if you're curious about caterers, we went with You Plus Me for our caterer based out of Sterling Heights, MI, give them a call, you'll know what I mean once you start looking at those prices for other caterers.

The Freighthouse was the perfect venue for our 100 person wedding. We checked it out from a suggestion from our caterer/planner Chive Catering + Events and immediately knew it was exactly what we wanted. It was a stunning historic backdrop for our warm and cozy fall wedding and the space gave us the ability to set up a unique seating arrangement with guests seated at their tables for both the 360 degree ceremony and dinner. We loved that the deck was a convenient but still beautiful setting for family photos, and the string lights gave the perfect glow to the evening. Also, all the tables and chairs we needed were available from the venue which made it so easy for us. Wendy, Jennifer, and El all provided wonderful service and our wedding wouldn’t have been as perfect without their help. One note we wanted others to be mindful of is that it is a public building that people in the community are familiar with - there is nothing to prevent folks from stopping in uninvited during an event.

I've lived in Ypsi for 5 years now and knew that when I got married, it would be at someplace local. I fell in love with the Freighthouse when I went for a tour. I had a fall/Halloween theme wedding and the Freighthouse was PERFECT. We barely had to add any decoration. Krista was great to work with and very responsive to emails. I appreciated having Freighthouse staff there on the day-of in case we needed anything. The rental rates were reasonable and offered different packages.

The Ypsilanti freighthouse is a wonderful space to hold family gatherings or a birthday party, or even a wedding! There is plenty of space, table & chairs are part of the space. Parking is available and there are multiple entrances to the building/sliding doors to open it up. For $100 the staff can take care of your trash for you, do it - it's worth it! There is a kitchen space also that you can rent out. Overall the cost of booking this space is amazing! The contacts for this location are super friendly and...
