I was weary of a new (AA) coffee shop opening up directly across the st from a local (ypsi) cafe w the exact same hours but decided to give it many chances. Their food has improved past their og menu of $9 toast- the sandwiches are decent but nothing special. The service on the other hand is and always has been pretty awful.. Im a pretty chill customer (have worked in customer service and managed cafes) but always feel like I am a burden. The other day I waited at the counter for about 3 mins before even an acknowledgement meanwhile THREE staff members were just having social conversations on the side. Also, Anytime I’ve been in near close they are passive aggressive (serving things in cups, sweeping directly next to occupied tables, kicking ppl out AT 8:01 w no patience). I attended a pre-planned event there with a local org and the staff didn’t know the event was happened and proceeded to ask us to leave again exactly at 8:01 (we were cleaning up from our PLANNED event). The staff might not be gen z, but they certainly have the gen z stare down. Dont recommend. There is a LOCALLY owned cafe full of quality coffee and kind humans directly...
Read moreVertex is the most amazing place. If you love good coffee you need to come here. My partner and I are really big into coffee and basically spend our free time trying different coffee places and this one is our all time favorite. The coffee is always spot on every single time. It’s rich and just the right amount of flavor - not too sweet nor too bitter. My favorite drink is definitely Oat Mocha, but they always have seasonal specials which are very good to switch it up. Now, the vibe there is amazing. It is truly a community. Ypsi is a new location but I’ve been going to a2 for a couple years and it really is the best place. You walk in and everyone knows each other and is just a really tight community. The baristas even hang out there on their free time which I think speaks for itself. The experience is just as good as the coffee. Additionally it is so green, community centered, LGBTQ+ friendly, locally owned, genuine and awesome. So seriously come and be part of the community! 💜💜💜💜
Also did I mention they make the best coffee ever. For real the best in MI...
Read moreThis place is clearly a labor of love and could become the main hang out spot in Ypsilanti. The staff is sweet, knowledgeable, and incredibly diverse. It’s a women owned, queer owned, eco-conscious gluten free establishment and that’s just the specs.
The coffee is incredible, they’ve got an amazing gluten free food menu and their mock tails are delicious and so fresh.
Their coffee is ethically sourced and roasted locally. Their syrups are made in house, and their food is prepared fresh and is so delicious! For interior space, there’s tons of seating and they have board games and activities inside for people who want to just hang out and chill. They hold space for everyone from Knitting groups, Trivia nights, Mom meet ups, and the Arab Olive Branch. I can not say good enough things about them! Vertex is exactly the coffee and the venu Ypsilanti...
