I had been training in grappling for almost 2 years when I moved to Yukon to follow work and raise my family. Once the move was completed, I was in search of a new home to train. I met a few people in town that mentioned a place called Conquest.
My kids were getting to the age where they could begin their martial arts journey as well. So I reached out to the gym on FB and was told to come on by. I loaded up the family and met with coach Sharon. We got the kids set up in a couple gis onto the mats with coach Luke.
I was immediately impressed with his patience and ability to teach them new things and keep them on point. They had a blast with the structure of the class and often ask when they get to come back on the days they are out.
I brought a friend, who was mostly new to grappling, with me to try the adult classes. We took our first class with coach Ron and I learned a lot of stuff I had not previously been shown. He has a great way of thinking outside the box when it comes to approaching BJJ. My friend was excited about all the new tricks he learned in just one class from half guard, while my ground game has continued to step up several notches since I've been at Conquest and it's only been a couple of months now.
The friend I brought has also been taking coach Lee's kickboxing class, and he absolutely loves it. He is close to 300lbs, has been trying hard for awhile to lose weight, build some confidence, and get fit. He's already shaving off pounds and acts like a new man.
If you have kids and want them to learn self defense or get them active and off of the video games for a little while, this is the place to be.
If you are looking to add to your current fitness plan, take up a new one, or looking to enhance your grappling capabilities, whether you are a complete beginner or have any level of prior experience, this is the place to be.
Bottom line, THIS IS THE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter had been going to another martial arts studio in Yukon that focused heavily on kata. My daughter would refer to the kata as a dance, and say she isnāt a good dancer, and that if she wanted to dance, she would join a dance team! She continued to go for two years hoping that at some point all the talk of sparring and learning to flip other students, etc would eventually happen. It got to a point where she was crying coming home because she could not get the kata ādanceā down and was feeling like martial arts just was not for her. After talking it over with her, we decided to give another place a try, and after checking reviews, we landed on Conquest, and thankful that we did! I truly believe my daughter learned more about self protection in her very first class at conquest then she did in those 2 years elsewhere, as well as had more fun than she ever had at the other place! I watched my daughter learning grappling, getting rolled around while laughing and smiling the entire time! When we were leaving she told me that she thought it was awesome that we came on a game night, (I enjoyed getting to tell her that it wasnāt game night, but actual class! ) If your looking for an awesome place this is it⦠and if your kid is disliking the kata, and that style of martial arts where the focus is only kata, come check out conquest, you wonāt be let down! Last but not least, conquest does a really neat program where not ever night is the same thing. They have BJJ, taekwondo,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to train when I was young and lost motivation for years. Even though I used to train intensely, I was always concerned about being hurt as a family man, which could impact my home life. Because of this, I rarely sought out any gyms for fear of pushing myself too hard, or being put in positions that werenāt safe for me.
Fast forward to today⦠I found home again with the Conquest Family! Not only was I impressed by the skill level and instruction, but they all made me feel comfortable training at the right pace, being safe, holding me accountable, and being part of the family. It has been such a great opportunity for me and honestly the prices are reasonable compare to other gyms. Iām happy to pay it, and then some!
Love all the peeps at Conquest and my BJJ game has significantly change. My lifestyle is also more healthy because of it.
If there were 6 stars instead of 5 on Google Reviews, Conquest would get...
