Simply a great open park, that offers a lovely walk along the River Thames.
The views in either direction as you make your way along the tow path are superb.
There is adequate parking very close by & a larger car park (payable) approximately a 15 min walk away.
The cafe in the park is reasonable, with hot & cold drinks, hot meals, sandwiches & Ice Cream on offer. Along side that, there is also a pretty good & good size children's play area - though parts of it towards the back can get a little icy underfoot in very cold weather.
Along with the views of the town from the tow path, there are also the wonderful sights of the local Red Kite bird, flying majestically overhead.
This is a great way to enjoy a couple of hours or more, feeding the swans, gulls & ducks & maybe having a picnic in the summer too.
There are plenty of benches around, so for the legs that tire easily, this is well catered for.

Pub in the Park weekend in Higginson Park was filled with world class chef and amazing music from General Levy brilliant musical feast which had the Marlow spectators rocking to the vibes and the finale on Sunday was Paloma Faith.
General Levy performance was second to none shame it wasn't longer.
Great restaurant food and drink event that shouldn't missed as it caters for everyone including Bars, Exhibitors, Sponsors Green King, M&S, Kids entertainment, Kid dishes, Fun Fair, Playground Penalty Shootout Silent Disco.
Plenty of restrooms including disabled and babies and loads of space for picnic area and the live music.
I definitely recommend Marlow's festival event mid May Thursday evening to Sunday it is a celebration of great food and music which should not be missed....

Higginson Park is a great place for all ages. Today there were many people using the playground area, the on-site coffee house with outside and inside seating serving meals. The walk through the park from the main road takes you to the river Thames where you can feed the ducks and swans, sit and look at the views of boats and the Marlow Bridge, same as the one in Budapest. At certain times there is also a river boat tour and in the summer you can get a boat to Windsor or Henley (I am sure they still run - a childhood treat with my Nan. There are many dog walkers and the path leads you to walk along the rivers edge. Today they had a small sit on ride and a bouncy castle for the little ones. Definitely worth a visit

Marlow is such a lovely town — peaceful, scenic, and full of charm. We spent a wonderful day at Higginson Park, which is beautifully maintained and perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic by the river. The highlight was hiring a boat from The Little Green Boat Company. The staff were so friendly and explained everything clearly, making us feel comfortable right away. Cruising along the Thames was an unforgettable experience — calm water, stunning views, and total relaxation. A perfect way to enjoy the natural beauty of Marlow. Highly recommended!

I love Marlow and regularly meet up with a friend and former neighbour here to go walking.
We park up at the Pound Lane Car Park which is just £2.50 for up to 4 hours, or £3.50 for up to 6 hours.
Higginson Park is a large park with good amenities; including a children's play area, two cafes, a leisure complex and a cricket pitch.
In the summer you can get ice cream from the vendors who patrol the park and take boat trips up and down the Thames.
Pictured on a blustery November day, the river path boggy from recent rains

I recently became aware of a strikingly beautiful Black boy who had been brought to England by his owner, who had purchased him for 1,000 guineas. Upon his death, the boy was buried in his master's plot.
In the late 18th century, a young black boy named George, who had vitiligo, was brought to England by his owner, Sir Thomas Hall, after being purchased for 1,000 guineas. Known for his distinctive spotted skin, George became a notable figure in Sir Thomas's household. After his early death, George was buried in Sir Thomas's family plot, an unusual gesture that reflected the complexity of their relationship and the status George held within the household. His story offers a rare glimpse into the lives of enslaved individuals brought to England during the transatlantic slave trade. The above image was taken in the church by the bridge.

A metal suspension bridge connecting Marlow with Bisham. It is a picturesque bridge and if seen alongside the church adjacent to it, paints a quaint picture. Atop the bridge, one can view the expanse of Thames on either side, with an active rowing scenery on any bright day. There are several rowing clubs located on the river banks.
There is a plaque that commemorates Prof John Griffith, whose activism seems to have saved this bridge. The bridge beams also have a symbol of swan with an inscription meaning Seal of Desborough.
The steps leading down from the bridge connect to the Thames Path which straddles the beautiful Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

It's Grade I listed so you better tread lightly. Because the other suspension bridge in Hammersmith by the same engineer has been suspended from active duty.
I don't blame the build quality, design or architecture because these Victorian/Georgian era buildings were built to stand the test of time. But unfortunately the big fat super rich people of 21st century in their big fat heavy Range Rovers have weakened the poor bridge from their daily shopping trips to Chelsea.
Both this 18th century bridge and the All Saints Church together form a very good partnership and it'd be a real shame if something similar happened to this one too.

Beneath the starlit sky, Marlow Bridge comes alive with a breathtaking dance of light and motion. A night scene in Marlow, UK, as the flowing traffic paints streaks of brilliance across the timeless architecture. An enchanting fusion of history and modernity. Marlow Bridge, spanning the River Thames between Marlow and Bisham, has a history dating back to 1227. The current suspension bridge, designed by William Tierney Clark, was built from 1829 to 1832. It's the sole non-tidal Thames suspension bridge and influenced Budapest's Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Designated as a Grade I Listed Structure.

It’s not every day a lock gets a mention, so I’ll shake things up a bit. Marlow lock, built in 1927, still functions today and during the summer months I suspect it can see many novice river boaters bash their way through it. The weir which is mentioned in the Domesday book, is a few yards away just the other side of the mooring jetties and sits in front of the Marlow suspension bridge and 19th century All Saints church. I’ve done my research.
If you park up on Mill Road you should find a sign for the lock that’ll take you to the arched bridge and on to the lock and if that’s worn you out, there are a few benches allowing you to rest your weary feet. The lock is guarded by a fence so your dog is unlikely to launch itself into the watery expanse, like they do but saying that, just off to the side there are some steps leading down into the water. So probably best to do as the sign says and keep the thing on a lead.
3 out of 5 stars because it’s just a lock. It’s no Niagara Falls.

Tied up for the night on our way upstream. The lock keeper (Duncan?) was super nice and very helpful.
The local, free moorings had all been taken and we were getting concerned about where we would spend the night. It was then that the lock keeper suggested we tie up right there, at the lock, by the gate (see picture). It's a space just big enough for one boat. He even helped us tie the boat up as we were very inexperienced. Come to think of it, every lock keeper we met was very friendly.

A lovely, clean, vibrant town which marlow is. And that's where exactly the marlow lock is located. You will find the hotel complete angler, all saints church and marlow bridge all in the surrounding area. And make sure you stop off to enjoy the views, the river thames and relax in this area

Marlow town is the prettiest town on the river. The lock is ancient and glorious. Quite large, would hold several medium boats. There are toilets available for smaller vessels without facilities. Locks are easy to use if instructions are followed to the letter. 😍
