I was there on Sunday the 9 June 2024 with my close family as we were going to scatter my mums ashes on Winter Hill. We all met there to have lunch followed by the sad event. Anyway, my son in law and me ordered the honey chicken breast burger with bacon on top and here the problem happened. After eating this my Son in law had a violent problem from both ends but I felt so so. I reported this to the staff and was basically told that no one else had reported a problem so bad luck and please pay the £86 bill. I was not happy but there you go, they were no interested or cared about situation. My son in law was unable to leave the car to attend the scattering. I returned home, down south in Chichester and that evening felt rough. Monday and Tuesday 10th/11th were both days where it was not wise for me leave home because needing the loo. Not much point in advising the Donkey for clearly they did not care. BE AWARE. Also the rest of my family ordered the roasts which to be honest were so small in quantity it was disappointing. Also the chicken burger had the smallest of breast meat it hardly covered the bun it came in. Not happy and will never visit again, if in the area.

Following my post they since requested I get in touch and I forwarded my contact details With joy.

I finally received a call from as stand in manager who fully understood my comments and in fact told me the GK punish them if they serve up larger weighing portions than stipulated!! Wow so Green King know their portions are so small. I was also told that I would Receive a voucher for my Family To eat again at a more local Green King pub and that was over a month ago. Since then...

Update - having seen the response to my review from Greene King I did as they requested and contacted them on the same day to the email address they provided, I suspected that their response was probably just an automated one rather than someone actually reading my review and really caring that we had a bad experience. 6 days later I have not received a response to my email and now I’m left wondering if the emails are even read by anyone? To be honest I couldn’t really care what they have to say as we weren’t intending to go back there but why pretend to care about feedback and request further contact if then nothing happens? Appalling customer service!

Very disappointed with our dining experience on Mother’s Day yesterday. Firstly, our pre booked table for 3 people was so small it was barely big enough for 2 people, when we queried it we were reluctantly offered another table but told it had a time limit as it was required for another booking. We were then told because we’d booked the Mother’s Day option we could only use a specific menu that only had 3 meal choices on it. The tart served on the vegetarian meal was still frozen in the middle and the vegetables on the other 2 meals were cold. We had to wait quite a long time for our dessert to arrive and just as it was served we were told that “our time was up” and we needed to leave the table because it was now required for another booking. Definitely not the experience we were looking for or expecting as a treat for Mothers Day, we will definitely never dine at the Marlow...

Cocktails & DJ were good, they have the best cocktails by far, but We had better times here 10 years ago when they had waitresses, seats were different and no dogs were allowed. The food was better and the place was more sanitary. Now you’re being forced to eat with dogs and you’re paying as well. No consideration about other people. It’s gross now. A bunch of dirty dog’s bowl stack up in there flies, etc, dirty tables. Just imagine how poor the hygiene is here now. If you have dogs going in and out like it’s a parks. Waitresses weren’t hired to clean behind dogs. So who’s cleaning up after? If the tables not clean form previous customers, they picked up the dirty glasses but tables still not wiped. I lost my appetite here after seeing how nasty it was with the dogs. People really need to leave their dogs at home and make the restaurants have better hygiene & cleanest, other people would like to enjoy a peaceful meal with no allergies, no yapping and poor hygiene. It’s straight nasty. Especially when you don’t know if the servers wash their hands after petting a dog or holding his bowl. Whoever started this it’s way overboard. People what’s the point a dog is in a...

Despite having a lot of fun here last time I came (Tuesday evening), this was a far reduced experience. Though the venue still looks good and the staff friendly the food was awful. It's odd because the menu is the standard Green King one, I've had what I ordered twice before and loved it, this was bad! The chef clearly made no effort to make the most of the ingredients and it was very hard to eat. Even the cappuccino and latte we ordered was nasty. I didn't realise coffee could go so wrong with a machine. On top of this, the menu showed a code for a free non-alcoholic drink, but the code didn't work. I spoke to the waiter and he said he knew nothing about it, to so we had to pay for drinks we only offered because they were free I really didn't feel I could grumble because the staff were really friendly and the food cheap compared to elsewhere, but I won't be hurrying back any time soon. I'd rather pay more and have a half decent meal.

A Delightful Evening at the Marlow Donkey Our first visit to the Marlow Donkey was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and provided highly professional service. The menu offered a great range of options, catering to diverse tastes. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the food – expertly prepared and presented, with fresh ingredients. The pricing was also very reasonable, making it a great value for money. The selection of beers and spirits was excellent, offering something for everyone. Whether you're a discerning beer connoisseur or prefer wine, the Marlow Donkey has you covered. Overall, we had a wonderful evening and would highly recommend the Marlow Donkey to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and delicious dining experience. It's definitely worth a visit!

I visited the Marlow Donkey for my Christmas do a few weeks ago. CUSTOMER SERVICE: There were both good and bad parts to this. The table service was very good and was done very well. The table service team was nice and very prompt with the food. Visiting the bar was slightly different. I think there should have been more than two person in the bar so as to help limit waiting times. On two occasions we were waiting for over 15 minutes to make our orders. I see this as an issue for them because we were ordering drinks for about 18 people with bottles on wine one top. If it wasn't for the do we would have left. FOOD : the food was really good and every one enjoyed it. The desserts were also simple but very very well done and well presented. Overall the experience was good. A few subtle changes can make the experience that much better.
