Add this animal refuge to your travel bucket list!!
📍Kliebert & Son's Gator Tours, Ponchatoula, Louisiana
They provide a safe haven to animals that have been mistreated or dumped, including a one-legged parrot, an albino turtle, the worlds oldest tortoise (he's over 100 years old and is in the Guiness Book of World Records!!),
oh, and plenty of gators!! 😳

May 31st 2025: arrived approximately at 3 P.M.
I came here for the first time.
I'm a LA native, and I NEVER EVEN KNEW THIS PLACE EXISTED; I AM SO HAPPY THAT MY BOYFRIEND AND I MADE THE TRIP!!!!
Much praise and compliments definitely goes out to the crew (3) we met.
First, Ms. Breanna (or Preanna) got us squared away with the fee and our feeding buckets.
Next up, we met with this other fabulous young lady, Sydney (I called her SWEET SYDNEY, though). She was so well-informed about the family who started this recreational attraction, and she knew more information about the reptiles and the mammals that existed on the site, too!
I have watched and read a lot of National Geographic books, and none of the other "zoologists" ever shared the type of information that I learned while taking this tour.
I HAVE ALSO NEVER SEEN SUCH A HUGE ALLIGATOR EVER BEFORE; THIS IS THE PLACE TO SEE SUCH A MAGNIFICENT PREHISTORIC CREATURE THAT HAS ITS TRUE INSTINCTS BUT ALSO EXHIBITS A SENSE OF DISCIPLINE (if it could be called that).
Ms. Breanna (or Preanna) came back and helped us with some more interactive fun with other reptiles. There was a fella there, too, I forgot his name, but he assisted as well.
Every one of the staff members were very much into their jobs, supporting each other, and creating such a great caring environment /rapport with the animals.
It's evident that Kliebert and Son's have scouted some of the best folks in the business to represent them and the animals over there.
IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN HERE, YET, MAKE THE TRIP!!!! ASK FOR SYDNEY!

OK so first of all…. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!! FRANKIE IS THE BEST TOUR GUIDE!!! She was soo loving, interactive, extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and most of all, HAVE PLENTY OF RESPECT FOR WILDLIFE. We were a group 8 coming from San Antonio Texas and I have to say we were amazed at how you can feel the love for the animals from the tour guides there and just walk from animal to animal appreciating them so much!!! They give you specific instructions on how to feed them, handle them, and of course learn from them. The animals are a gift!!! Everyone there is wonderful😇😇😇 Most of us held animals we were afraid of ever holding but I felt so confident and extraordinary after her security and instructions. I wish I could give them more then 5 stars!!!!! Definitely going to come back and recommend to other families and friends, THANK YOU SO MUCH, WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU DO!!!

This is a must do if you are in the New Orleans area! Katie was our guide and she was fantastic. She answered a billion questions from our group and was super cool. She clearly loved the animals and gave us an opportunity to see them all up close and personal without ever being in any kind of danger. Katie fed the gators for us and it was really cool. They have a lot more than just gators, they have all kind of reptiles, feathered and furry friends as well which was an awesome surprise. Of all things we did in our weekend vacation in NOLA this was our favorite!
I was not compensated in anyway for this review just wanted to share a great experience.

Fun place, takes about an hour, you must be led by a tour guide. Come here if you want to see hundreds of alligators, all of different ages and sizes. Many alligators older than 50 yrs live in a large natural swamp area, young alligators live in a smaller enclosure with a pool, and baby alligators live in a large swimming pool. Tour guides will take you into enclosures to see alligators, will help you "sit" on an alligator, and you will hold a baby alligator. Tour guides are knowledgeable about alligator biology and how to handle wildlife. There are also some other kinds of wildlife, but it's really all about the alligators.

Cool park! I mostly stop here and kill time by fishing in the pond. We have caught a couple bass and one catfish (catch and release pond). There is a small gator that hangs around and other wildlife as well. Its nice having the indoor walking track if its a super hot day and having access to the AC'd bathrooms after fishing the pond for a couple hours.

Very nice facility. Looked new and Clean. Had a nice running track on a second level. We were there for a karate tournament and there were like a thousand people in there and it was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this venue for someone interested in hosting an event or show

There's alot to do out here, a huge playgrounds, extensive walking paths, beautiful dock and pond for fishing and just overall relaxing. This recreational center is a favorite place to go because it's spacious and beautiful and has an indoor track open every day.

The show they put on for the 4th of July is awesome. Even with the clouds parting and the rain coming a few minutes after the start of the show, it was worth it. Good laughs and great memories!
Went again this year (2022) the show did not disappoint!!!!!!

Nice place. If fishing, be careful. There could be a gator hanging out like this one. He was hauled away but he wasn't scared of me and a kid can walk up on him.

The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival 2025. The family set out to Ponchatoula to enjoy the best weather not cold, not too hot, and sunny. Paid Parking and free parking were plentiful about two blocks away. Streets were barricaded with the sheriff and police presence. You start to hear the carnival rides and good ones at that, not small ones you might see at an elementary school fair. You get hit with smells of the foods. Specifically the spicy cajun offerings. We tried the chicken and shrimp Cajun pasta. Was rich and delicious. Most foods are small clam shell Togo box size at $10-$15. Soft Drinks and water at $3 a 20 ounce bottle. I tried a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri (pictured) from a baseball team fundraiser and it was delicious. My wife enjoyed a fried oyster Po boy and it looked and smelled wonderful. She commented that it was delicious. My son enjoyed a chicken tenders and fries basket and later got a green apple sno cone. Finding food and drinks was no problem. Alcohol strawberry daiquiri are priced at $9 for a 16 ounce cup or $18 for a plastic souvenir water bottle size. Other booths sold them by the yard. We found a wine booth and picked two bottles of sweet strawberry wine to enjoy later. Before leaving my daughter had to try the strawberry shortcake booth. For $7 it was yummy. I highly recommend you try this festival and enjoy the music, food, and fun.

The Strawberry Festival in Ponchatoula was very well organized. Great food, music, and delicious strawberries 🍓. The strawberry eating contest was wonderful. The clean-up crew was prepared and maintained the grounds and Port a Potties. The neighboring police department from Hammond was on crowed control. AMR was heavy on staff to assist with medical issues. It was well worth it. The weather was also beautiful.

I visit Memorial Park quite often. It a quite park with swing sets for kids. It is also home to the famous Strawberry Festival and Ponchatoula chapter of the Rotary. There are also a few dogs that frequent the park that live nearby. They don’t bother anyone and a sweet dogs (they don’t come up to strangers).
