Taverna Paidhaqe DAJKUA — Restaurant in Tirana Municipality

I have to dissent with other reviewers here, and honestly I hate to be negative because the staff were pleasant enough and there was nothing "wrong" with anything. I had a mixed ("Greek") salad and the mixed grill. Again, nothing "wrong" with anything, it was just disappointingly bland and overcooked when it came to the meat, and the salad was just alright. All these reviews made me have high expectations I guess, but this wasn't the dining experience people built it up to be. I've had far better meals in Tirana, for roughly the same cost. To be clear, it was perfectly adequate; everything seemed safe and clean and properly done, it was just "eating for sustenance" and frankly joyless, even the grilled caciocavallo somehow managed to be bland and salty at the same time. I would go here for something simple and reliable, like if you have a taste for very low seasoning/like your meat overcooked, or maybe have dietary sensitivity of some kind. I must stress again that the staff were pleasant (English level was low so had to use Italian), and I want to rate this place higher but I can't off that meal and I honestly am not interested in going back when there's better...

Taverna Paidhaqe is one of those places that makes you fall in love with Albanian cuisine. The food is absolutely authentic and full of rich, traditional flavors, clearly made with love and care. This place is impossible to find with google maps. We showed a pic of the restaurant to a local and he directed us to it. There was only 1 other couple in the restaurant and maybe that’s why the food was not up to par. We ordered the meat plate which had thin cut lamb and pork chop which was on the grille way to long. The pork was not even edible, the lamb was somewhat better. The meat patty was cooked ok but we did not like the flavor. The fried vegetables consisted of eggplant with the skin so tough it had to be removed and peppers which were ok. It was not expensive but still not worth what we paid.
