"La Torre dell'Orologio di Tirana iniziò ad essere costruita da Haxhi Et'hem Bey nel 1822 e fu completata con il contributo delle ricche famiglie di Tirana. Inizialmente l'altezza della torre era di 30 m e l'orologio era costituito da un meccanismo a carica e da una campana di ottone, il cui numero di rintocchi indicava l'ora perché mancava il campo e la lancetta. Il suo assemblaggio fu fatto dalla famiglia Tufina, citata a proposito degli orologi. A certe altezze era dotato di torrette per l'aerazione, l'illuminazione e la protezione. Nel 1928 la Torre cambiò forma e assunse l'aspetto che ha oggi. Fu rialzato di altri 5 metri, raggiungendo i 35 m, fu realizzato un balcone, furono montati 4 quadranti di orologio con lancette e fu installato un tetto di tipo veneziano. Nell'ambito della modernizzazione di Tirana, lo stato albanese ha acquistato un orologio in Germania. Watch out for the lady at the entrance asking for 200 Lekes to go up the tower. The exact price is 100 Lekes. I know it's still not lot of money but she tries her best to scam tourist. When I confronted her about the price she I rented to show me a 200lekes ticket receipt that does have nothing to do with the clock tower.
