Read moreAntigua Cerveza has been one of the pioneers in micro brewing which has grown exponentially in the last couple of years in Antigua. As a micro brewing enthusiast I make it a point to visit every time I’m in Antigua, because I believe in supporting small businesses in their vanguard. Considering this is brewery which offers an open space and “family” oriented and “friendly” atmosphere one would assume HOSPITALITY when visiting this brewing. Sadly for this once thriving establishment this is no longer true. I visited with my brother and his girlfriend for drinks last night. I was waited on by “Ivy” who was none too kind, displayed a lack of interest in her job and contempt for her customers. She made it a point to make the experience feel as if she was doing me a favor by waiting on me and my family. One can’t help but to think, why am I being treated in such manner? Well… after watching other customer interactions it became clear to that if I had ordered in English or been of a different race or dressed differently maybe I would’ve gotten a pulse out of this aloof waitress/bartender. I’ll steer clear from now on but you’re welcome to check it out if you’re into bad customer service and...
Read moreI hate to give a 2 star review for the atmosphere. It’s actually a beautifully landscaped finca with picnic tables set out in the forested area. Food isn’t bad either and service is good in the restaurant. The problem for me and many of my friends is how loud the live music is played. It’s impossible to have a conversation even sitting as far away as possible. Now, they have put speakers everywhere so it’s hard to escape. I live close by and on the weekends, I can’t even hear my own music in my house because the music in the finca is so loud. It’s one of the few forested areas in Antigua where you could go now and then for a tranquil experience but sometimes even the recorded music is too much. It would be so nice if one day/night could be devoted to some beautiful, calming music to go with the beautiful natural environment. It’s a shame that there is no zoning to keep music venues away from residential areas. Doesn’t seem to be much consideration for the people living right next door. I do appreciate that most of the time the music does stop at ten so...
