Unfortunately, I have not read all of the reviews before I booked, because their rating was okayish. But sadly, all the bad reviews seem very accurate. ||||1. Most important as they have tried to scam other people before (according to the Booking.com reviews). In my room was a broken fan. They claimed that I have broken it and need to pay for it. They were threatening that they reported me to the police already to put pressure on me, which in the end they lied about. Do not pay. They have done this before. Read the reviews here. ||2. Upon arrival they want to extort you for a 8% credit card fee which they do not mention online on Booking.com (would be easy enough if they just added this fee on Booking like other hotels). Many people here have reported this already in their reviews. I insisted on not paying it. Also, they were saying that all places in Antigua were charging this. Not one place in Antigua has ever charged me for the use of a credit card. ||3. I got a different room with less amenities but still had to pay the same price. They said, the room I booked, was occupied. They also claim on the website that there are rooms with terraces. I didn't have a terrace although I booked it. ||4. The room has no windows to the outside, just to the inner building, making it incredibly hot and especially very wet and moist and moldy. The room was stinking disgustingly. Also many things in the room are dirty or broken or almost broken. As mentioned above, the fan was broken. They didn't have AC which I knew before booking, just mentioning it for your consideration that it is impossible to get the air moving.||5. Almost any piece of furniture was sat through, broken or not stable anymore. Not all the faucets in the bathroom work. ||6. In general, they seem very rude and not caring. ||||I am so glad that I took photos of everything, incl. screenshots of the conversations regarding the broken fan. They really destroyed my mood on this...
Read moreI stayed at the vista al cerro hotel with my partner. We travel the world a lot and I have never encountered a lack of service and lack of care towards customers like here. There is a problem in the shared bathroom that the shower faucet handle is broken. The broken handle does not allow convenient opening of the water and control of the current and temperature. We only discovered this when we wanted to shower at night. We informed this to the hotel staff who claimed that the previous guests had broken it and they would fix it later. We tried to shower there and there was no hot water and it was also impossible to close the faucet, so I had to call the reception worker to come and close it with tools after each shower. After we explained to the staff that there was a problem here and it needed to be taken care of, they did not agree to give us any solution, did not agree to move us to a room with a shower or maid even though it was empty and claimed that we have to add money!!! to pass, even though it is their fault. Throughout the stay they behaved rudely, did not speak to us after the incident and did not even say good morning. In fact for 4 days after long trips to volcanoes we found ourselves without a way to shower, after paying the best...
Read moreA basic, clean, well-worn hotel, in a good location, good for one or two nights when your days are packed with activities and all you want to do in your hotel room is sleep. The staff members are SUPER friendly and helpful (but that's really all of Guatemala). We got there earlier than planned and they rapidly prepared our room so we could check in immediately. We stayed in the back room on the first floor, and it does get loud early in the morning, as staff arrives and prepares things in the kitchen, but we are early risers anyway. No air conditioning, but the room cooled off beautifully. Only drawback for me was there was nowhere to just hang out and drink some beer you bought at the local tienda and chat if there were more than two people already on the rooftop (which has a wonderful view of the...
