Bar de Fondo Cultural — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

I went to this cafe on Thursday, October 3, 2024 and Friday, October 4, 2024 to speak Spanish with my tutor. We we sitting in a classroom just outside of the main cafe area. I was served by the same girl both days. I ordered a simple cup of coffee (just black both days). After waiting for 30 minutes on Thursday, I went to the barrista and asked where is my coffee. She said she simply forgot and brought the coffee about 10 minutes later. Not a great experience, but I thought, oh well, it happened once. Then, the next day, it happened again. However, this time I had to come and ask her to make a simple cup of coffee 3 times within 40 minutes because she said she kept on forgetting to make it. I could understand if the cafe was full of people. However, the cafe was completely empty. There was no one there. She simply didn't give an F. On the third time of asking her to make a coffee for me, she was extremly rude and gave me such a nasty attitude like "how dare I bother her at work to ask her to make a coffee when she would rather do nothing."

I will never return. Don't visit this cafe if you don't want to be treated like trash.

My reply to Bar de Fondo's response. This was a complete lie and they know it. This is shameful behavior by a business not wanting to take responsibility for the inappropriate, disrespectful, unprofessional behavior from one of their employees. I will address all of the lies in their response to my review.

Lie Number 1. what Bar de Fondo said: "I think that an explanation has already been given to you, and that there was a delay."

The only explanation given to me was that the barrista kept on forgetting to make the coffee. My Spanish level is strong enough to understand that. She said, "Me olvide". And she said she forgot many times because she kept on forgetting to make the coffee. My Spanish instructor even personally said to her after she forgot so many times, "Hey come on, what's going on here?"

Lie Number 2. what Bar de Fondo said: "In the same way, they told me that your attitude was also arrogant, shouting, "

I was not shouting at all. That is a 100% complete lie. After being told that she forgot to make the coffee after having to ask her 3 times and after 40 minutes of waiting, I simply told the barrista to not worry about making it, that I no longer want the coffee.

Lie Number 3. what Bar de Fondo said: "We have already been talking to the course coordinator and we will be more careful about your need for instant coffee."

My need for instant coffee? That's an interesting point of view, and this snarky, unprofessional response goes to the heart of what an unprofessional and disrespectful business this is. If waiting for more than 30 minutes for a simple cup of coffee in a coffee shop that is empty is a "need for instant coffee", then yes, I'm guilty as charged. It should take no more than 5 minutes to make a cup of coffee in a coffee shop where that cup of coffee is the only order. Again, no excuse for this nasty jab at the customer.

A simple apology by Bar de Fondo would have been appreciated and gone a long way. Instead, they chose to lie and smear the customer for the bad actions of their employee. Shocking behavior by a business. una noche de sábado decidimos buscar en la aplicación algún bar cultural y fue una de las primeras opciones, sin saber qué había decidimos llegar y tocar la puerta, una de las camareras muy amablemente nos explicó que iba a haber un show de jazz en breves y decidimos entrar. Nos trajeron la carta y de toooodas las opciones elegimos una pizza napolitana chica, un campari con jugo y un vermut. Esta esquina que por años fue un geriátrico y no decía nada hoy es uno de los lugares que elijo para ir con familia y amigos a tomar algo. La transformaron en un lugar hermoso para comer casero y muy rico, en un ambiente súper tranquilo, alegre y relajado, con una brisita linda que te invita a respirar profundo y disfrutar de una carta que tiene mucho para ofrecer para ojos y paladares entrenados. Se consigue exprimido de naranja fresco y sin azúcar agregado. A vos que estás leyendo te parecerá una estupidez, pero creeme que no se encuentra tan fácil, menos en los barcitos y birrerías cool de la zona.
