Update Sep 2024 (prior review was from ~Dec 2023): The grilled seafood platter was watery and soggy. It looked like slightly undercooked, though not enough to make you sick. Otherwise, I'd have returned it. It was also bland, and portion size seemed smaller than in the past. We ordered one for 4 people, we were 2 and we finished it without feeling we’d over eaten, so it’s probably smaller. The salad was smaller and had fewer ingredients than in prior times I went. The waiter said they couldn't make the grilled vegetables side dish without oil, something they could do in the past. Lemonade was great, better than other times I went. I go there 3-4 times a year, sent them feedback of my poor experience with the food via the google reservations platform, and didn't receive a reply, something surprising from a restaurant that takes pride of being upscale for Buenos Aires standards. I might have gone there in a bad day but am surprised by their lack of response when reporting my poor experience. I'm rating the food in terms of value for the price paid for the food I ordered according to Buenos Aires standards. Fervor might still be cheap for foreigners, and one might have a better experience, but I consider it fair to report mine. Photos are from my ~Dec 2023 visit (much better), not from this visit. The grilled seafood was so unappealing, it wouldn’t make it a good subject (object) for a photo.
~Dec 2023: The grilled seafood, salad and mushroom appetizer were amazing as usual. The grilled seafood platter is THE dish to order. The grilled vegetable side was smaller than the last time we had it and had less variety of veggies. The mint and ginger lemonade, lemon ice cream and coffee were excellent. I’m just giving a 3 for service because we ordered another lemonade and a second salad, and they took forever to bring them. The lemonade came too late and we had to cancel the second salad because we were ready for dessert and they hadn’t brought it. Then they brought it when we were having dessert after we’d canceled it and had to take it back. But overall a great experience and...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to dine at Fervor restaurant and I must say that it has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, with a warm and inviting ambiance that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The service is also top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels well taken care of.
However, I do have to mention one area where the restaurant falls short - the fish Parilla. While Fervor excels in creating incredible looking meat dishes, it seems that the chef may be neglecting the fish options. The fish Parilla, in particular, lacks the same level of attention and expertise that is put into the meat dishes. As a result, the fish can be rather bland and tasteless, turning what could have been a great dish into a disappointment.
In fact, I would go as far as to suggest that Fervor consider removing the fish Parilla from the menu altogether. It is clear that the restaurant has all the right ingredients to be great, but when the fish is not properly managed, it can detract from the overall dining experience. This is a serious flaw that can harm the restaurant's reputation.
Another issue that I encountered during my visit was the wait time for a fruit platter. My dining companions and I waited for a staggering 30 minutes before deciding to give up on it altogether. While I understand that restaurants can sometimes experience delays, such a long wait for a simple fruit platter is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant's efficiency.
Despite these shortcomings, I believe that Fervor has incredible potential to be a great restaurant. With its fantastic atmosphere and impeccable service, it is clear that the foundation is there. However, some improvements need to be made in terms of the fish Parilla and the timeliness of service. Once these issues are addressed, I have no doubt that Fervor will be able to reach its full potential and become a truly outstanding dining...
Read moreFor a restaurant that is listed in the Michelin Guide to serve such poor quality and really tasteless food was a huge disappointment. The fact that Michelin, the revered food guide, would even bother to list it begs the question -- was that particular "food inspector" on drugs or simply has no taste? It certainly makes one wonder whether it should be trusted. Yes, the interior has a very old, school classic vibe. But I was there to dine. We had just dined at Roux, an outstanding restaurant with very fine local ingredients and beautifully presented plates. Meanwhile, Fervor, brought me a half of a whole "white salmon" because they were out of all but three fish dishes, and some bunuelos (4) in a bowl -- just four balls with no garnish. The fish was a piece of grilled fish with ZERO flavor, poor quality, served with a small tray of condiments -- all three attempting to be aiolis but nothing but really flavorless mayonnaise -- one pink, one white, and the other an indistinguishable color. My husband's steak was fine but his mashed potatoes tasted boxed and watery, no creaminess. I doubt they used any butter or cream. To make matters worse, I subsequently became ill and based on what was expelled, it smelled like the fish. This is 100% a tourist trap (I'm a native English, French and Spanish speaker and have lived abroad for more than 25 years). Lastly, everyone is seated at the same time -- the doors open and the entire foyer is packed and then they start to seat regardless of you reservation time. I believe their thinking is to have two seatings basically, to economize on costs and staffing. The worst restaurant where we've dine thus far -- there are amazing places to please your palate, this place is not one of them. I wish I had taken photos to illustrate just how lacking the food is...
