A small flower shop crammed with blooms of every kind is your gateway to Florería Atlántico. Down the narrow stairs lies a softly lit space that hums with conversation, clinking glasses, and the quiet energy of discovery.
The layout is long and slightly curved, with the bar and stools running along one side and tables lining the other. At the far end, a large mirror creates the illusion of endless depth. The low lighting and gentle ’70s soul music complete the speakeasy atmosphere — intimate, nostalgic, and perfectly in tune with the bar’s effortless style.
I ordered the Pehuén, a smooth, layered blend of Hennessy VS Cognac, Hendrick’s Gin, Pehuén orgeat, and Falernum of Merken. Its tropical, nutty, and fresh profile struck a perfect balance between warmth and brightness. I also tried the king crab empanadas — delicate, buttery, and filled with sweet, briny crab!
It’s the kind of bar that doesn’t just serve cocktails; it tells stories through them. Each drink reflects Argentina’s immigrant heritage — Italian, Spanish, English, and beyond — blending cultures just as the city does. Every sip feels intentional, crafted for both memory and curiosity.
The bartenders move with quiet confidence, happy to share the origin of a spirit or the reason behind a garnish. The crowd is lively — and even when loud, it’s always with a celebratory energy. It’s easy to understand why Florería Atlántico remains among the World’s 50 Best Bars.

The Columbia: A Journey of Flavors The Columbia cocktail is a masterful blend of contrasting flavors, offering a delightful journey for the palate. It begins with a rich, sweet cocoa undertone that sets a comforting foundation. As you savor the drink, a sharp, bitter note emerges, skillfully introduced by the orange peel dust, which adds a zesty brightness and complexity. The drink is presented with a theatrical flair, lit from above, casting a warm glow over a pile of ice. The ritual of extinguishing the flame by crushing the ice adds an interactive element, enhancing the overall experience. Despite the language barrier, this unique presentation is a memorable highlight.
The Rumania: A Delightful Companion The Rumania cocktail stands out with its own distinct charm. It offers a harmonious blend of flavors, skillfully balanced to create a refreshing and satisfying drink. While details of its taste profile are less elaborated, it is clear that the Rumania holds its own as a worthy contender on the menu.

Read moreThis is a speakeasy under the flower shop. It's a world Top 50 bar (#30 as of the 2023 list) so you'll likely need a reservation to get in. That said, it's worth a visit, but the taste won't appeal to everyone.
Floreria Atlántico's current menu (as of Feb 2024) highlights the history of native peoples. That theme is in every cocktail. Ingredients like soil, tobacco leaves, cocoa leaves, stones, and even "water from the Atlantic ocean" are featured in the cocktails. It's a bold menu with a lot to say. However, their bold vision is not matched by great execution. Each drink tastes...different. Not different as in an exciting new flavor. Different here means tastes you didn't think you'd have to explain to your friends - like how wood and popcorn taste in the same cocktail. Most of the cocktails have earthy sometimes bitter undertones. It's a unique palette that's presented on the menu, but major props to Atlántico for sticking to their vision and showcasing something truly new. It may not be for me but it is important. They're making cultural awareness statements through their beverages which 99.99% of bars will never do.
On another note, if you ask for a drink off menu you MUST verify the price. The prices of drinks on their menu are dirt cheap, but even classic cocktails cost three times more. Ask...
