Unfortunately, this café has disappointed me once again and will not see me again. I wanted to have an espresso there - they told me to come back in 10 minutes. The café should have been open since 8:30 - I was there at 9:05. After 15 minutes of waiting, many other customers came in and wondered why they were not being served - they could enter the café but were then sent out. Have you ever seen such a thing as a speakeasy coffee shop?!? The Shelter Coffee might as well be it!! Tucked away behind a dark, mysterious, minimalist facade in quiet, beautiful Retiro/Recoleta, I think this has become my second favorite coffee shop in #BuenosAires. Delicious coffee for prices that Porteño caffeine-heads now reminisce about ($44 ARS for my flat white), awesome jazzy/soul/chill electro music, with food & pastry snacks available for purchase. Only 2 visible outlets by the sofa chairs, so come with fully charged devices....

Super cozy, chic café on one of the most picturesque streets in Buenos Aires. With a nice mix of pop-ups every week, The Shelter is ideal for a morning coffee, a light al fresco lunch, or a different kind of aperitivo after work. It’s almost always full, so consider yourself lucky if you can snag a table.
