Grappa Cantina — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

So I'm trying to start this review absent any trite 'are you kiddin' me!' entrada so to speak. But really? This place is over-the-top amazing So this is one of those times I was led by inner feeling (instinct -- lack of a better term) without checking the reviews. This many have happened due to the wide selection of restaurants in the surrounding area. Once comfortably nested at the bar, I started reading the reviews and though (I'm screwed😔). Ladies and gentleman...I don't have any idea who/why wrote these other reviews. No fooling, I even checked Google maps to see if I was in the same place. Hey, not my.place to comment on other reviews -- but well within my baliwick to review Grappa Catina (November 2023). The staff was way over-the-top friendly and attentive! As a single (foreigner) -- I arrived early (maybe 7:30 PM) and there was genuine service all over the place. But when the place filled up acerca 9 maybe 9:30 PM (that's right -- filled up. -- on a Wednesday evening) the service, if anything increased --not the other way around. I don't hold myself out as the most magnetic of personalities; however, these people are anything but slackers. Okay enough on the comments of others. Never know the full story. Kids screaming table next to them maybe; obnoxious people nearby -- whatever -- so they choose to shoot the restaurant? But some manner of reason and fairnes is in order; I thouroughly and totally enjoyed an OMG thin-crust fuzagetta ...cooked on the grill. This manner of crust preparation is unique and simply nothing short of divine. Varied selecciónes of wines. 🍷 That's right! There was absolutely no way I was not going to augment the whole experience absent a Malbec (or some other Argentine delight on par) .. And boy were they ready! They carried a varied selección of Malbec wines (and others) . Accordingly, after all the internal struggles (just kiddin' 😊) and carefully presented options by the capable bar staff; I then rendered with such wise counsel. ... the ultimate decision to go with the house blend. Indeed, I was most pleasantly surprised; AND upon writing this review -- I have no regrets 😜. Seriously. Don't believe the hype...I only (truly) wish I/we could have such an amazing ...

La peor experiencia penosa y lamentable que he podido vivir en este restaurante (Grappa Cantina) ubicado en Palermo CABA . Fui a cenar solo ya que me encuentro de visita unos días por estudios profesionales de postgrado, debido a la alta demanda de comensales tuve que esperar 1 hora de pie por mesa, en vista de no desocuparse nada pronto la encargada de recepción me invitó a cenar en la barra del bar para no seguir esperando mesa, accedí y ya estando sentado comiendo la entrada y tomando el segundo trago otro cliente se me acerca y me pide que me levante y me corra de asiento para el poder sentarse con su pareja donde yo me encontraba sentado, sin dar respuesta decido llamar a la encargada y pedirle que si no puede garantizarme una cena tranquilo sin moverme de asientos en la barra mejor me lleve a una mesa, en ese momento llego una mujer argentina pareja del cliente que me pidió moverme de asiento y comenzó a agredirme verbalmente en compañía de su pareja delante de la encargada de mesas del restaurante entre los distintos insultos y agravios me preguntó si era venezolano en tono denigrante indicando qué no entendía que hacía yo en su país y más en este restaurante dando a entender que por ser extranjero no tengo el nivel o la capacidad necesaria para encontrarme en este sitio y ademas exclamó solo sin nadie que lo acompañe demostrando con desdén que su percepción de mi por ser extranjero y expresando que no merecía estar en este lugar burlándose despectivamente de mi persona y más por estar cenando solo … yo simplemente la deje descargar su odio discriminación y xenofobia sin responder a sus insultos, en vista de que estaba en presencia del personal del restaurante asumí que se iba a informar al encargado y tomar alguna acción a toda esta lamentable situación. El encargado se acercó para ver qué pasaba se llevó a la pareja de atacantes a otra parte de la barra le sirvieron tragos rápidamente y se les premió al instante con una mesa … A mi se acercó y me dijo lo disculpara por el malentendido… En vista de que el encargado no estaba cuando me agredieron verbalmente y discriminaron especialmente por ser extranjero, pedí hablar con el nuevamente le expliqué todo lo sucedido …. Su respuesta fue que quizás yo debí haberme movido de asiento y que él no podía hacer nada más que pedirme disculpas… Mi reflexión es la siguiente si vas a comer a este sitio reconocido de la ciudad y un cliente agrede a otro sin razón alguna verbal o físicamente con actos discriminatorios y de xenofobia …Esta bien que esto pase y el restaurante lo permita y lo deje pasar como algo simple o tonto??? después que la principal causa de todo el problema fue no habilitar una mesa para un cliente que espero 1 hora de pie en la entrada del lugar… Yo creo que no se debe permitir de ninguna manera en un país democrático y con leyes claras donde es un delito estás acciones … como sitio público y reconocido debieron hacer mucho más …. empezando por hacerle saber a los clientes que agredieron que en este lugar no se puede permitir este tipo abuso, irrespeto y actos de discriminación u xenofobia … REALMENTE NO LO RECOMIENDO GRAPPA CANTINA muy mala y desagradable experiencia … es un sitio que tolera abuso, irrespeto y discriminación para sus clientes especialmente para...

We were there for dinner with friends and family, we had a table for 7 people.

The service was good but could be improved by assigning less number of tables per server. Ours was good but he did not have enough time to attend all the tables. We had to look for him a few times as he did not follow up on our needs…

The restaurant was full and a lot of noises. Plus the tables were close to each other, so not practical to discuss… especially when one has to speak up fairly loud!

The food was uneven, some items were good but others were ordinary. The presentation was not great and a few were not well balanced between the ingredients (i.e. ratio of gravy or sauce was off…). It is a pizza place so I expected a really good pizza, but again it was not as tasty as expected. Although the meat plates were all good quality and well prepared and cooled to specifications.

Would I come back not sure… at least not right away. There was no outstanding items...
