Tonight my boyfriend and I had the most disgusting restaurant experience of our lives. He has been here with friends years ago, and it was my first time here, and we've been talking about going together for literally the past year and a half.
We finally made it here tonight; the ambiance was lovely and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Shortly after we were seated at one of the small tables against the windows, a couple came in and sat a few feet away from us at the corner table (closest to the door). The woman put her head down onto the table and looked ill.
Minutes later, our food arrived. We were SO excited to share two pizzas, an appetizer, and try desserts. We were drinking wine and it was great. I was particularly looking forward to trying the pizza with potatoes, like I had eaten years ago while traveling in Italy.
In that moment, before we could touch the food, suddenly there was the sound of liquid splashing loudly. I felt drops of liquid hit my left thigh (closer to where the above-mentioned couple was seated), so I assumed they had spilled water. Then the sound continued, and my boyfriend and I looked over in horror as we realized that the woman was projectile vomiting - aiming at the floor but splashing everything in the vicinity, including my thigh.
Obviously it was horrifyingly disgusting, particularly that it had splashed onto my thigh and there were chunks and droplets of vomit on the floor right next to my shoe (and who knows where else). The empty chair immediately to my left was covered in a puddle of vomit. We gave the man our napkins to help the woman clean herself, and then the couple left, and so did the other closest table. We obviously felt bad for her, but it was shockingly horrific.
The staff came over, apologizing profusely, and offering to box up the pizza or move us to a table further from the window. I explained that the vomit had splattered on my jeans, and pointed out the droplets right next to me on the floor. The untouched pizza was a foot or two away from my thigh, on top of the table. Obviously the concern was that droplets could have reached the food, and certainly the barely-touched wine and water cups in front of us.
I let them know that we were so excited to try the food, but as I now had vomit on me we needed to go home so I could shower. The staff brought me napkins to clean my thigh, and kept apologizing, but didn't seem to know how else to handle the (understandably shocking) situation.
We left, I showered, my clothes will be washed tomorrow, and I now feel clean and not horrified with disgust. We are now going to eat delivery pizza at midnight, and unfortunately chalk this up to the most disgusting restaurant experience in our lives, with really disappointing customer service during a shocking situation.
At least now I'm not...
Read moreUpdate 14/7/19 Still as awesome as I remember. This time they do not take reservations but for two you get a table pretty quickly.
Had one from the board, no tomato sauce, pistachios and pancetta. It was beautiful. Of course had the margarita again, and it's still fantastic. Gave the tiramisu another shot, I was happy with it but it isn't something to write home about. Overall prices are alright. $40USD for two pizzas, a bottle of Hey Malbec! (recommended) and a dessert seems pretty fair overall.
end of edit.
Went last night (10/8) with some friends and had the best pizza I've had so far in BA. They take reservations (don't let any other websites tell you otherwise) and are recommended as its pretty crowded.
The Italian guy that greeted us was beyond nice and attentive, came in a few times to check if everything was alright, explained the origins of one of their special pizzas on the board. The rest of the staff was nice and service was promptly.
We (5) ordered the burrata with prosciutto and focaccia as antipasti. It was superb. They have draught beer from 7 colores, very nice product. We tried the margarita, one from the special (which name I can't remember) with greens and shaved parmesan, and one with mushrooms and prosciutto. Seriously all was amazing. The tiramisu wasn't so great, I've tried better but I couldn't even care because the rest was so awesome.
Will definitely be...
Read moreUpdate February 2025. Revisited All that is good is still GREAT! It's rare that you visit a restaurant that does everything right... Siamo nel Forno is such a rare place! (*visited in 2018 and several times in 2024, when living close.) So consistensy is key and Siamo surely accomplishes that.
The pizzas are absolutely fabulous, thin crust, fresh toppings in just the right amount and seasoned very well.*one can ask for a pimienta olive oil to add a kick if you desire.
The front of the house staff is very friendly, courteous, most are bi-lingual, and very efficient getting both your drink orders and pizzas to your table. This means they are in sync with a kitchen that is very well run so that your pizza comes to the table hot! Not an easy feat since Siamo is a busy place.
As for atmosphere, inside tables are closely put together, creating a buzzy atmosphere that is quite enjoyable. Some great photography is lining the walls.
It's noted that management takes great pride on doing things right, and they succeed.
*I know this reads like a paid promotion, it's NOT.... I have no problem calling a spade a spade. Frankly I could not find anything amiss.
I'm sorry I've moved out of the area, but shall return!
Highly...
