Josephina’s Café — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

Food was good but service was slow. There are 2 separate parts to this restaurant and we went into the left hand side as you face it. We sat at a table but nobody offered a menu. Eventually we asked for a menu and it took about 5 minutes for it to arrive. Guy who was serving our table seemed more interested in talking to another customer who had finished eating and still ignored us. Eventually we left and went into the other side. The girls here were much more attentive and we were served in a much more efficient manner. We only wanted coffee and small snack so should not have been so difficult. Food was tasty...

So... Tips for a table of two have now become mandatory at your place? Or is it that your waiters are now handwriting it out on a check just because I am a foreigner? Is this a voluntary tip or a mandatory service charge (that's not on the menu)?

That's the first time I've encountered this at Josephina's, and I've been many times here before over the past couple of years.

I don't mind tipping at all. And I have been, on my previous visits there.

I just never thought I would be made to do it... And my check was the only one among my neighbors with the handwritten tip specifically written in...

Location is great with lots of outdoor seating. Indoor seating available. Lots of variety of foods and casual bites. Tea time selection of sweets are good. Home made lemonades are fresh and delicious. Fantastic place for meetup ... is a local place for regular people as everyone knows everyone! It's in a relatively busy streets junction, great for people watching 😉 Tried this place twice and rating is mostly because of service. Service is terribly slow. Easily give yourself an hour for your order where usually comes...
