Trade Sky Bar — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

🏳️‍🌈❌ Homophobic and Discriminatory ❌🏳️‍🌈 Last night, December 17, 2024, we had a reservation for 11 PM at this restaurant after enjoying a spectacular performance at the Teatro Colón. What should have been a celebration turned into a regrettable case of discrimination.

The hostess on the ground floor, in a completely arbitrary and prejudiced act, denied us entry despite having a reservation and being dressed appropriately. While we were being rejected, other people who clearly did not meet the supposed “smart casual” dress code were allowed in without issue. In fact, a man wearing shorts and sneakers was admitted right in front of us, making this act of discrimination even more evident. It was clear that this hostess targeted us because of our appearance and sexual orientation.

I have traveled to more than 80 countries, lived for 10 years in the United Kingdom, and have never experienced an act of discrimination like the one we faced at this establishment.

I chose this place only so my friends, who are celebrating their birthdays this month, could enjoy the views. I was already aware that the food was mediocre, but I was willing to return for their sake. Now, I’m grateful we didn’t insist: we ended up dining at a restaurant where we were treated with respect and humanity.

It is unfortunate that a place that markets itself as exclusive allows this kind of vulgar and discriminatory behavior from its staff. This is not a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community or for anyone who values respect...

One of my favorite bars in the city, but today was a big disappointment.

Ordering our first round of drinks, we didn’t have any issues, same for the food, but when we wanted to order our second round of drinks, we got the worst attention possible by one of the waiters (Emanuel, the guy with the mustache).

When he passed by, we wanted to order a second round of drinks. For the wine, he said he had to check and left the table before we could finish our order. When we called him back to finish the order, he became impolite and even aggressive. He made us believe he took our order, but it turns out he never put it in, so after 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to order the bill. As our luck had it, we ended up asking Emanuel for the bill, and again, he made a fool out of us and never brought it. After waiting again for some time, one of us went to the bar and asked to talk to a manager to tell about the horrible service by Emanuel. That’s when he came back and became aggressive again and started gaslighting us, saying we were lying and that we didn’t ask him anything.

As a bar of this level, this guy shouldn’t be working there, as he’s bringing down the reputation of the place. Everyone else was helpful. We paid what we consumed, and I hope next time this won’t occur again, or to anyone else.

Besides this bad experience the drinks, food are not to complain about and so...

Great views! Try to make reservation, or else it’s hard to get a table or even enter. We arrived 10min before they opened (6pm) without reservation. They told us we could stand in line outside and we would enter, but we were told we couldn’t seat in any area as all seated areas were for reservations. They started letting reservations enter first, and around 15min later they started allowing access to everyone else on the “no reservations” line. Once we entered we saw many available seats, but they told us we couldn’t seat until 6:45pm (which must have been their limit for any other person who had reservations). So we had to stand and order our drinks directly at the bar…. & Finally after 6:45pm everybody without table was able to look for a free table or seating area, and simply seat and stay there! (The process was a bit of a hassle with all the specific waiting times and so on… but well, I assume if you have a reservation it must be hassle free). All in all, we had a good time! We were able to find a great table, with an awesome view, and had a wonderful time! Drinks were good! And once we were seated we could order drinks to a waiter, and service was good. Drinks were also quite affordable. (You expect a Skybar like this to be overpriced, but it was a nice surprise to see average normal drinks...
