A Disappointing Experience at Restaurante Asador "MERINO-Fuegos de Patagonia" in El Calafate

Rating: ⭐️

My visit to Restaurante Asador "MERINO-Fuegos de Patagonia" left much to be desired. Despite the initial appeal from the grilled lamb on display, the reality fell short. We ordered the BBQ lamb Parrilla and a dish with steak fries, egg, and stuffed bell pepper. Disappointment awaited us as it seemed the meat was not freshly grilled but possibly cooked earlier in the day. The dryness of the meat, especially the lamb, was unparalleled in our El Calafate experience. The steak, without inquiring about our preference, arrived overcooked—hard, thin, and well done. The fries were disappointingly oily. In a town with numerous dining options, I regret to say there are much better choices than this overpriced and...

Order 1/2 portion of “Patagonian Lamb” (Cordero Patagónico a la estaca) and “Offal Table”: lamb Intestines, kidney and sweetbread (Tabla de Achura: chinchulines, riñón y mollejas). The “Offal Table” was dry and overcooked. The Patagonian lamb was good - moist and juice - better than the one we had the night before at Mi Viejo across the street. The restaurant is more expensive, for example , they charged lemonade for 1200 pesos (as comparison Mi viejo charged 500 pesos for lemonade). The “Offal Table” was 2 person portion so we ordered 1/2 portion of Patagonian Lamb. When we got the billed, they charged almost the full price of the lamb. After we complained, they corrected the price and charged us 65% of the full portion (Mi Viejo charged exactly half price for the 1/2 portion...

Let's start, this place is quite pricey, but whole El Calafate is quite pricey, comparing with Buenos Aires. The place is really fancy but has a bit of "home" atmosphere inside. We got a table quite fast, make the order and got the appetizers and finally the meat. The meat was really, really good. The texture, the taste all of this. Such as the wine, was superb So why I put 4/5? The personel felt a bit of lost, they need to try to work better Also the personel needs to explain better the "rawness/grill" of the meat, cause we had different kinds of grill Better french fries (were bit cold/not fried correctly) Adding a singer, during dinner and then the singer walking from table to table to...
