After 5 wonderful weeks in Argentina and beautiful experiences with it’s citizens, parks and museums, this was by far the worst customer service experience. While we enjoyed the museum and learned a great deal, the young man working there was arrogant, rude and simply disrespectful. He is a terrible public face for the museum and does a disservice to it’s mission of science, history and cultural education. It saddens me to have to write such a harsh review for a facility with such a noble cause.
Thank you for your prompt and thoughtful reply. Several facts are warranted. We paid 28,000 Pesos to enter your museum. After 2-3 minutes inside we were in total darkness with no ability to continue the tour. A refund request to your receptionist at that time was NOT unreasonable. At that time we had no understanding if or when the El Calafate power would resume. We we polite in our request. The receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive, with a raised voice. His only response over and over was “it’s not my problem.” Candidly, his demeanor was insulting. I contrast this with the staff at Reserva Nimez and Punta Walichu who were professional, helpful, enthusiastic and kind. Your museum is dependent on electricity to provide a service. When there is a scheduled power outage your staff should be prepared to better accommodate your patrons. During the outage the receptionist did not even bother to get out of his chair and off his phone to assist guests to the museum exists. There was no plan. There was no assistance. There was only…”It’s not my problem” to quote your receptionist. There are a number of other matters I would be happy to share with your management about this experience if you would like the...
Read moreDo not waste your money. Guy at front was arrogant and rude. Power went out after 5 mins and he would not refund our 14,000 pesos per person. The little bit of exhibit we saw was terrible. Save your $$$ and also the frustration of an interaction with a rude human.
Thank you for your prompt reply. For clarification, I wrote the above review before we re-entered the museum. We fully understood at the time of the first outage that you were open until 8:00 pm. Your operating assumption and policy is that museum patrons have the remainder of their day open and free to re-enter. That is NOT a reasonable assumption and basis for refusing a refund request. Fortunately, with some effort we were able to rearrange our afternoon schedule and re-enter when power came back on. But what if we had not been able to do that? To be clear, this issue is much more about the behavior and attitude of Museum staff than money. I sincerely hope your management takes these comments constructively and addresses the root of the matter at hand. In short, 'it's not my problem' is NEVER a valid response when patrons raise issues...
Read moreIt may look basic, but don't let the appearance fool you. I think by far the best museum I've found in South America, full points for presentation and execution!
The receptionist is a friendly guy who speaks English well. The route through the museum is linear, chronologically, so you can't get lost, or find yourself having to decided after to go and loop back or accidentally miss a spot. In my opinion, the museum's literature is just informative enough to keep you interested, and feel like you're learning, without boring you with too much detail, a hard balance I think many museums struggle with. You'll be done in around an hour, and if you struggle with Spanish, you can ask to borrow a book which has everything translated, in roughly the same layout as the museum, so it's easy to follow. Very...
