Bamboo Hut Bistro is an overpriced mediocre Malaysia and Thai cuisine bistro, that is located next to Gawler Cinemas very popular with the local but sadly the food quality is below par for the above average price tags; swing by if your looking for an Aussiefied version of Malaysia and Thai foods and have never been to South East Asia countries.

Saturday evening dinner for 2. Only one staff member in front of house to take orders and serve to the table as well as take and sell takeaway orders. She was rushed off her feet although delays to our meal were not significant. Food was fresh and tasty-esp the salt and pepper crocodile. House wine reasonably priced.

Friendly staff offering good service, unfortunately the wait times can be a little long. That being said, the food is delicious. Freshly prepared and served in a quaint environment. Wheelchair ♿ parking and access is available, although the entrance may be tight for some wheelchairs.

A long wait for poor quality food and servers who did not apologise nor check on our table.

We made a reservation on Saturday, 7 January for 630pm. We showed up early, there were four other tables but they were doing a reasonable take-away trade.

It took us an hour to get our food - other tables were also delayed and not happy about it.

When we did get our food, it was awful. The frying oil must have been too cold because anything deep fried was soggy. The lemon sauce for the lemon chicken tasted like it came from a jar - the bottom of the jar. The sambal prawns had nice prawns, but the sauce tasted like it hadn't simmered long enough. The noodle dish barely had any noodles (it was if they ran out).

Neither of the servers checked to see if we had enjoyed our food.

I brought the lemon chicken up to show we had only had one mouthful and that we weren't going to pay for it.

The chef was loudly dismissive, the servers didn't apologise but they did take it off our bill after making us wait while they added things up by hand (their systems are as tired and dated as their décor - I appreciate kitsch, but things were tired and paint...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Indian we’ve had in Adelaide!

We finally tried the new Bamboo Bistro and it absolutely exceeded expectations. We ordered the prawn curry and butter chicken, paired with fragrant lemon rice and saffron rice, along with a warm, cheesy garlic naan and fresh tandoori roti – every bite was packed with flavour.

It’s honestly the best Indian we’ve had since moving to Adelaide over two years ago. The menu has an impressive range, especially for vegetarians, and the venue is licensed with a great selection of drinks to pair with your meal. Service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.

They also offer takeaway if you’d prefer to enjoy their food at home – perfect if you want to grab a drink while you wait. It was quiet when we dined (just one other table), which meant fast service and a relaxed atmosphere.

We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu – a hidden gem worth...

Great food and obvious effort has been put into the ambiance. Service was a bit too relaxed (was over 10mins before they took our order, and they weren't serving anyone else, we could see them chatting in the kitchen but couldn't get their attention as they never once looked over at the customer tables) but servers were friendly and helpful besides that. My partner had the lemongrass chicken which was fantastic, and I had the honey chicken which was very nice at first but I think needs to be ordered as a shared dish rather than a main as it's a bit bland and oily when it's the only thing you're eating.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and we will probably be returning...
