@Gawler South Bakery, Gawler South, SA
Yiros Pie $6 Made the 96km trip out to Gawler, done some research on Google, seen that there were 4 bakeries in Gawler, sadly 2 had closed down. So went to Gawler South bakery and got a Yiros Pie. For all you non South Aussie's a Yiros is basically a Souvlaki with garlic sauce. The pastry was night and light, had a slight buttery taste, not too dry or flakey, slightly undercooked on the bottom. Biting into the pie I was really searching for that Yiros flavour, it was 75% there, I'm thinking something is missing, I think maybe a bit more of a garlic punch. The mince to gravy ratio was pretty good. I came across 1 piece of steak in the pie. Not too sure if it was meant to have more steak or not in the pie ? The serving temp was good, the pie didn't fall apart. Look, this pie wasn't the greatest, perhaps another type of flavour may have been a different experience.

Read moreA Sunday drive & a stop at a bakery for a tasty pastry, cake or hot beverage is usually, but not always, a pleasant experience. This shop did not disappoint, we saw an array of cars stop & multiple customers patronise this shop, always a good sign. It was a surprise to see so many young staff who all proved friendly, eager to serve, to accommodate & suggested happy to be there. I'm always wary about an extra hot cappuccino, so many places produce poor efforts that can barely be drunk, but the young lad here provided two excellent coffees, extra hot, a great head of froth & a great taste. Bravo, finally a decent coffee. Their pastries were excellent, very tasty, their cakes extremely fresh as was their bread. Did we get lucky? I don't know, but we will certainly be back & highly recommend you give them a...
Read moreServicing the whole of Gawler yet not one gluten free BREAD/ROLL/ETC option available. Please explain… thanks for your reply. I was referring to bread, rolls, bagels etc rather than hot food such as pies and pasties etc. Even if the bread was not coeliac friendly as such a simple gluten free option would be appreciated. For example Subway offer gluten free wraps which they do not claim to be coeliac friendly as it may have been cross contaminated. To claim a product is coeliac friendly requires strict guidelines. Gluten free friendly does not. Could you not do the same? Gluten free products are very ! popular at moment. Means more profit for yourselves with little effort...
