Bo Rarn is wonderful.
I don't know if it was the owner or just a really great host, but we were served by someone who clearly cares about this place. The atmosphere was very cosy as well, with dim lighting and good music the evening we went.
When he came to take our orders, he asked if we wanted help with the pronunciation of the meals on the menu, which I thought was a nice touch on his part to make the ordering process a bit of fun. I thought I'd give it a go on my own and he gave me a solid 8/10, so I'll take it! He was also extremely informative about a few questions regarding the food and Thai beers when asked. It just goes a long way when the person you're speaking to at the restaurant knows what it is they have and why they have it.
Now... On to the star of the show; the food. Holy well-spiced-christ, the food. I cannot remember the name of the dishes off the top of my head but we got a chicken, chili, Thai and tree basil stir fry and it was really, really good. Chicken cooked excellently, the spices and flavours all coming together comfortably with the basil taste sitting on top of it all was just superb... But that massaman Wagyu beef.
There are few things in my life that I've put in my mouth that was more enjoyable than the massaman Wagyu beef dish they have here. This thing is incredible. Unrivaled, even. The cinnamon sticks sitting on top of perfectly cooked, and I MEAN perfectly cooked chunks of Wagyu, little golden potatoes, golden sauce and ribbons of cream strewn throughout. I mean this thing had me floored. It's also served with roti that was also effing awesome. My wife had the ingenious idea of resting a piece of beef in a piece of roti and dipping it into the curry.
An absolutely phenomenal food experience.
This place deserves your attention. It deserves your patronage. It deserves another visit from me (and it will be getting more than one) and it deserves all the praise in the world.
Best Thai in Adelaide and it's not even close as far as...

During the day, they offer a Thai themed breakfast as well as a sort of an express lunch option. But for dinner, they offer a proper traditional Thai dining experience based on ancient Thai recipes. If you love good Thai food, then you should definitely try them out for dinner ππππ. . Tod Nam Goong - fully prawn ring cakes served with Bo Rarn pineapple sauce: this was super tasty! Very nicely fried with a crunchy coating. The prawn mince was super flavourful π€€π. . Bo Rarn Som Tum - crunchy fresh green papaya, carrots, cherry tomatoes, roasted peanuts in mild spicy Som Tum dressing: this is the proper stuff! We asked for medium chilli, and it was quite spicy (but a good spicy). Amazing flavours and refreshing ππ. . Pla Kra Pong Priew Wan - deep fried battered barramundi (250g) in tangy sweet and sour sauce: essentially sweet and sour fried fish, but they made it so good! The sauce was not too sweet, and the fish was tender and juicy. Nice one! . Moo Hong - 12 hours slow cooked pork belly stew sunflower sprouts, Bo Rarn lime & chilli Nam Jim: this piece of pork belly was sooooooo good! It was so tender that it literally just falls apart when you poke at it. The nam jim was also properly spicy π₯π₯π₯. Excellent dish ππ. . Bo Rarn Emperor Pad Thai - The national dish of Thailand - stir fried chicken and prawns, crowned by crunchy rice noodles: this is one of the best pad Thai dishes I've had here in Adelaide! It's so good ππ. The prawns were super juicy and tender! . Kha Nom Chan - steamed pandan layer cake: we wanted something small for dessert, and this definitely hit the spot. Not too sweet, and full of pandan...

I wish I was staying longer so I could try multiple dishes! I was tossing up between a known favourite of mine - duck red curry, or trying something new - lobster tail curry.
I opted for the lobster tail curry, some coconut rice and a side of roti. And it certainly did not disappoint! The meat was tender, the spices were perfect. Just enough kick without blowing your tastebuds off. The coconut rice was fragrant and hinted at that smooth creamy texture. While the roti was flaky on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. It was a perfect side dish to the curry.
One of the owners was on front of house. You can see his passion for the food they make. He was friendly and the service was efficient. Presentation was beautiful. You can really tell everything is done with care.
Iβll have to come back next time to try the duck curry. Highly recommended by the owner! I do love a good duck leg on the bone in a red curry!...
