UPDATE: I recently went back to find out the restaurant had changed hands and sorry to say but my original rating no longer stands. The food is now on par with other below average indian restaurants around Adelaide. Despite asking for hara Bhara kebab they passed off pakoras as the kebabs. The curries were average..overall very average food that's nothing to write home about.
After a long time we found an Indian restaurant true to its name. What was an accidental discovery on a weekday for a takeaway dinner turned out to be a true hidden gem.
We ordered the paneer tikka, hara Bhara kabab, dal makhni and paneer butter masala the first time and it was so good. All the right flavours, seasoning and texture. We then decided to dine in today to check for how consistent the quality is. I ordered turned out to be the same minus the dal and oh boy did we make the right choice. The naan came out soaked in butter, flaky with crunchy edges and the paneer gravy was thick and smooth unlike the watery sweet excuse of a gravy most places serve.
Ambience is nothing fancy but the food more than makes up for it. Don't look beyond this place if you are looking for a good...
Read moreFirst Indian restaurant in Adelaide I am surprised about service and quality of food . I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gem Kohinoor and was thoroughly impressed by the overall experience. The restaurant offers an excellent balance of great value for money and top-notch service that left a lasting impression. As soon as I entered, I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The service throughout the meal was impeccable - attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring that all our needs were met promptly. Great place...
Read moreAlthough the front staff was polite, the overall service was extremely poor. We waited for 1.5 hours, and the food was served very late. The chapatis were brought out one at a time, even after the long wait and we were 6 people waiting for chapatis. One person will get at a time and others will wait. The paneer tikka masala was disappointing, with only two or three small pieces of paneer, and we were informed late that they had run out of paneer. The chicken tasted like freshly defrosted.
I would never recommend this...
