Hanamura Modbury is a place I frequent quite often, and with good reason—it never fails to impress. Every visit is a delightful experience, with consistently delicious food that keeps me coming back for more. I've been a patron of this establishment since its days as Sushi Planet, and I've easily visited at least 20 times since then. Quick service, great food and a good selection of cocktails. spicy Karage, pork Gyoza, sashimi, nigiri all fresh and good.
The menu offers a diverse selection of plates, each one bursting with flavor. Whether it's sushi, udon noodle soup, or rice bowls, every dish I've tried has been exceptional. Personally, I have a soft spot for the beef rice bowl and the karage rice bowl—they're absolute must-tries.
Despite the restaurant often being busy, the staff are incredibly efficient, ensuring that each guest receives prompt and attentive service. On most occasions, I've had the pleasure of being served by a friendly server named Susan, Sussie, or Sue—I'll be sure to confirm the name next time I visit.
Overall, Hanamura Modbury is a must-visit destination for anyone craving a satisfying Japanese meal. With its consistently delicious food, efficient service, and inviting atmosphere, it's no wonder this restaurant has become a favorite of mine. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or simply looking to enjoy some authentic Japanese cuisine, Hanamura Modbury is the place to go! I always book online before going there which is so easy! The sushi so good. Nigiri so fresh! Udon noodle soup is so yummy! They have a huge range of menu items and got a fully vegan...
Read moreFor starters the person who was at the entrance was not very nice, my husband asked if we could sit in the booths ( restaurant was empty) she said “ NOoo, TABLE is NOT SET up, just sit there” then we had to get up to order and the salad came with the lettuce not fresh at all , had dark spots like it has been out for long time. My husband asked if the tofu balls are made fresh on the spot, the lady didn’t even looked at him and while walking off she said yes they are fresh. The lady was wearing mini denim skirt, shirt off the shoulders, not very presentable for customer service. In the kitchen you can hear the people talking and laughing while cooking. The same lady was after cleaning some tables and instead of putting the menus back gently she just threw them on bench from at least a metre of distance. Other ppl came to ask for a table and this lady from across the downing room said to Them just wait there because I need to clean this table and set up for you, after cleaning the table she just pointed to the table and call them to come and sit, instead of walking towards them and taking them to their table.
Customer service is bad, food is okay but not fresh… didn’t enjoy...
Read morewe arrived at 5:30 ish for an early dinner with our 1.5 year old. There was only 2 other tables with customers. The lady that showed us to our seats was blunt and barely said a word. We had sat for 5-10 mins and decided on what to order. No one came to our table to take our order so with an antsy toddler we went up and asked if we order at the counter. The lady grunted and said she would come take our order. It was at that point we realized NO ONE sitting down had had their order taken yet. Upon food coming our we weren’t given plates of which after 5 minutes I went up and asked for. The food was okay apart from the beef skewers that come in the meat plate. The beef was so chewy it physically wouldn’t break apart even after chewing for a long time. Both my husband and I had to spit it out. It was not edible. Upon leaving no one asked us how our food was and barely spoke upon taking our money. It cost us $60 (no drinks) and we left still hungry and so disappointed with the service. Normally we would go to Kintaro, spend $50 and be leaving super full. We definitely won’t be going back here and...
