We randomly look for a place to have a quick lunch. I asked my husband to go to Glenelg, but because we are closer to Henley, we decided to have it in Henley Beach Hotel. We sat in sports bar so we can still watch the cricket since AUS is playing.
While sitting down, the server came asking everyone who ordered the food she was holding. There were only 4 or 5 tables inside and probably 2 tables outside. I thought, with that small number of tables, even a high school trainee would remember who ordered what.
I ordered Caesar salad. The flavour was good for me, $21.00 (no chicken, I did not want chicken anyway). Might be expensive for some, but I do not mind paying as long as good food and good service. My husband bought Parmi with salad on the side. While eating, the worm came out crawling on top of the salad bowl. The customer from another table saw it. My husband, who was an Executive Chef who was always calm and did not want to fuss about food. Got up, took the bowl, and showed the lady quietly the worm. Guess what?! The server started to laugh (I dare you to review your camera and see and hear for yourself how loud she laughed) and showed to the customer near the bar and showed to the other table with 3 or 4 guys sitting while she was laughing. The worm coming out from the salad can be funny, but her, laughing loudly, talking about it over and over again, showing to diff customers? That's strange! I am not sure if sbmhe threw the worm. I would have thought the first thing she should have done was apologize, ask the customer table number, and assure you would replace the food. Then, straight to the kitchen and show it to the chef. BUT NOT! She kept going on and on after 10 to 15 mins. I saw my husband blushed because the server was still talking about it and said to the other lady and the guys on the other table, she does not know where the person was and the person was gone! My husband got up and calmly mentioned it was his salad. And she asked "do you want it replaced?" Are you kidding me????!!! Are you lady for real??? If the managers in this hotel hire this kind of staff, make sure to train them or...

We got the Parmy, a pub favourite and I can honestly say for $26 I expected more. My partner and I very disappointed.
I asked for no cheese on mine and they scraped it off and left cheese and a dent on the top. The parmy was a good size but had two slices of slapped on store ham, nothing special. The salsa is something I would guess came from a can with flat leaf parsley dropped on top and not appealing at all. Great Chips & a nice salad.
The major disappointment came from my sons meal. Kids Meal - Fish and chips is a favourite for our kids. Unfortunately this time the fish was terrible, it looked mushy and tasting awful. Also nowhere on the menu did it mention Beer Batter? I spoke to the young girl when ordering and said it was for a one year old, did she think it would be ok, she said yes no bones.
No complaints with the kids Prawns, my son loved them!
I couldn’t see a high chair in the pub, once my meal was delivered I asked where they were and the guy went and got one. The young guy saw me with a baby on my lap and didn’t ask if I needed one. It’s these things that make customer service great! I think the staff need a little bit more training but overall they were nice.
This was a very upsetting meal for the price and the kids meal didn’t include a drink or ice cream. I have expressed my experience with many as I don’t want anyone to go through this either. I think the manager should try the kids fish, they may understand why I wouldn’t feed it to my children.
Had high hopes for this place, I think they need to improve...
Read moreI’m all for supporting local business and have been an ambassador of the hotel for many years. Understand it’s owned by a big corporate, however food and service appalling. We were the last in the restaurant to be fed as we paid for our food ahead of everyone else and our order not put through. Understand there are third world problems however if you dont understand whats going on in house then you wont seek improvements. Keegan the ‘manager’ apologised and was very dismissive, rude and tried to pacify me in an arrogant manner. I was offered a free garlic bread. Lol. No apologies when he delivered the food and hour and half later, only to be told to enjoy our meal. Its not about the problem, but how you deal with and how you resolve the issue. Keegan you need a paradigm shift in attitude and more training, as you fell well short of customer service and I would reach out to your mangers for support and development. We the locals are the reason you provide the service you do. Directors/Managers, step up as you are failing dismally and well short of...
