I recently dined at STH Restaurant and had a very unpleasant experience. The grilled prawns in my entree were obviously not fresh; they gave off a foul, fishy odor and the meat was soft and mushy rather than firm. When I pointed this out to the waiter, instead of apologizing or addressing the issue, he asked me if I still wanted to order the seafood pasta for my main course, mentioning that if I also ended up returning that dish, it would “cost him a lot of money.” I can’t help but question: if the seafood is already spoiled, shouldn’t the restaurant remove those dishes from the menu immediately? This is not only about food quality but also basic food safety.
Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn’t fare much better. The lamb gnocchi had an overpowering gamey flavor, and the prawns in the seafood pasta, while slightly less off-putting than the grilled prawns, still broke apart easily, indicating they, too, were not fresh. The roast duck was another letdown—its fat hadn’t rendered properly, and the meat was tough and sinewy. Ironically, the best item I had was the fried potatoes, which speaks volumes about the quality of the other dishes.
Overall, STH Restaurant failed to meet even the most basic standards of freshness and safety, and the service was disappointing. If they wish to retain customers, they need to urgently address their seafood sourcing and staff training. This experience was extremely frustrating and regrettable. I hope the restaurant takes steps to improve soon.

Read moreWhat a find STH is! We had such a beautiful meal and a lovely evening there last night. There were 4 of us and we sat in one of the central booths; it felt as though we were in the classy dining car of a long distance train in Europe. The food was so good I promised to spread the word and to come back with other friends. We didn’t go for one of the “Feed Me” options which seemed quite reasonably priced for the amount of food offered. Between us we chose King Prawns and Calamari as starters (a big tick for both), scotch fillet medium rare (my husband said it was the best he’d had for a loooong time), Lamb Ragout Gnocchi (that was mine, I loved it), and Barramundi that our friends said was delicious. We squeezed in desserts - Chocolate Brownie, which looked decadent, and was apparently delicious, a generous serve of Affogato, and my Bird’s Nest, a light dessert that was beautifully presented. This was all high quality food, and you could say this is reflected in some of the prices. The owner of STH spent time chatting with us, a very personable man with interesting stories to tell of his time working in the US and some of the challenges in running restaurants these days. I know I’ve gone on a bit long here but really Sth deserves to be a great success and if you go there, you’ll see...
