Thai Orchid Restaurant — Restaurant in Adelaide

We ordered delivery tonight via Uber Eats from the Thai Orchid Restaurant and it arrived at a good temperature and a lot of care was taken by the restaurant to package the food well to avoid spillage during travel.

From the Menu we ordered:

Pork Spring Rolls. Beef Satay Skewers. Massaman Beef Curry. Coconut Rice - small.

Everything was delicious.

The Pork Spring Rolls were perfectly cooked with a pleasant, delicate flavour and plenty of meat filling and the accompanying dipping sauce was very nice too, and went really well with the pork spring rolls. Better than any Spring Rolls I’ve had from any other Thai restaurant.

Beef Satay Skewers that my visiting mother ordered; she said that they were very tasty and the satay sauce was a delicious balance of flavours and had a nice peanut flavour as well.

I had The Massaman Beef Curry & it was the best that I have tasted in Adelaide thus far (Adelaide CBD and Western Suburbs) with flavourful ingredients, a perfect balance of spices, as well as beautifully tender beef pieces and potatoes, made this curry absolutely delicious. The potatoes tasted fresh too & didn’t have that refrigerated & reheated flavour like many other restaurants that I have ordered from.

The Coconut Rice was fresh tasting, perfectly cooked with lots of coconut flavour and better than other Thai restaurants I have ordered from. This rice was a perfect accompaniment to the Massaman Beef Curry.

All of the dishes were very tasty, good portion sizes. In my opinion the menu is priced responsibly, and better than other Thai restaurants in the area.

ZERO STARS ! I dined here New Years Day and will never make this mistake again. The service was horrible. Received dirty cutlery. Then that evening my partner fell incredibly ill and spent all of the evening and next day in the worst possible state (I don't want to mention any graphics) and was confirmed he received food poisoning. I made an attempt to email the restaurant rather than take to public reviews but received no response. I then called today (almost a week later) and they said they will get onto the email and "look into it". I asked what do you have to say about all this and they kept saying "I'll look into it and I'll read the email" so I told the manager can you not bring yourself to apologise? And rather than taking that chance to say sorry they blamed the "heat" for him being sick. So for this, I've felt the need to leave such negative feedback. It was bad enough that he was sick from their food and so I sent an email as a courtesy for them to be mindful of which dishes were contaminated and instead I don't get an apology or anything. I am unsure what's happening but once upon a time they were very good, but last Friday night visit on a warm summer night the restaurant was very busy. Parking was a fair walk, fortunately no problems but this would be a problem if you have mobility issues. The staff were nice and professional. We ordered our food, meals were brought out but timing between first served and last served in the group was too long with serving staff making many visits to check we had all ordered meals delivered and then almost serving us other guests ordered meals. I had Pad Thai a rather simple dish available at many restaurants for $18.90. This was a real disappointment as it was tasteless like a paper plate and only had two prawns. It looked and tasted like it was made with an empty pantry. My wife had garlic prawns and she was unhappy with them and advised they were rubbery and had no taste of garlic. I hope this is an unusual experience and never repeated. I wish I took photos for everyone to gauge...
