We used to get takeaway when they were down near Canning Bridge but this was my first time to dine in the restaurant. I went with a couple of girlfriends, we brought a bottle of red with us. Service was great, except they took a while to take our order at the beginning, but after that we had very good service from the friendly husband and wife team. For entree we had the spring rolls and the chicken mince. The spring rolls were absolutely gorgeous, freshly made in house, really crispy, with lovely cabbage inside. The chicken mince wasn't very nice, drowned in a sweetish red sauce. For mains we had the whole barramundi, prawns in red curry, papaya salad, steamed rice, and pad Thai. All of these were very nice, the curry sauce in particular tasted beautiful, and the papaya salad lovely and fresh. The whole Barra was a nice experience and it's rare to get whole fish in restaurants these days. The service was exceptional, as our water glasses were continually refreshed, and the host came around (twice!) with glasses of free port, such a lovely gesture and very well appreciated. For dessert we shared the sticky rice with mango and a Thai custard with homemade ice-cream. The sticky rice was absolutely gorgeous, the mango was perfection, a nice, punchy flavoured, firm fruit, quite hard to find in Perth in the winter, I was impressed! I can't say much for the custard though, it tasted like sweet baked eggs, and not in a good way, it had that greenish tinge eggs get when overcooked. But with all the other lovely things to eat it didn't matter if one or two items were not great. Thanks for a lovely...
Read moreHave been here twice and have loved it 😍 each time. It is very popular during weekdays or weekends so I would recommend booking if you don't want to miss out. Can cater to large parties, although it can get a bit noisy if crowded as the venue is not large. The food is very tasty and different from other Thai restaurants I've visited. If you’re not sure what they do offer a banquet but it's 4 people min. Lootks like a family run business, and great service is their no. 1 priority. They are very attentive and intuitive so you can relax and enjoy the experience. A shame they don't do cappuccinos, lattes, or hot chocolate. The coffee is plunger style, they do have tea - jasime - very nice. A typical 2-course dinner will cost $35-$40 pp for BYO wine only. They do have a wine and spirits menu as well a non alcoholic drinks. There's also a lovely little surprise at the end of your meal, but i won't spoil it, you'll need to go to find out! 😉There is plenty of parking at the rear. Put this place on your must visit list - just make sure...
Read moreVery poor quality food. We were all hungry and we thought we could enjoy a nice Thai meal as we saw the 4.4 review rating and some awards hung on the wall. The noodles are gluey and sticky. Only a few dried tofu in my veg. Pad Thai and small thin chichen pieces in my son's dish. The worse one was my wife's seafood Pad Thai. The four little smelly prawn has put my wife's appetite off. She only has a few bites of the noodles and left most of the food on the plate because the food had gone off. Their Thai milk tea is just condensed milk ditch water without tea taste and too sweet. The lady at the counter didn't smile at all. We paid cash for our food as they charge 1.5% extra for credit card payment. The price of their food is expensive and we were overcharged by $4.00. We forgot to ask for the receipt and we were already on our way home. So we didn't bother go back just for the $4.00. We will not go back there again and definitely not...
