Red Wok Thai — Restaurant in Ballina

We don’t like to do bad reviews as we feel it is unfair, as we all have different tastes and bad days, but we just felt we had to, to let others know considering all of the good reviews. Over $80 for 2 entrees and 2 main meals takeaway and it was honestly disgusting. We are more than happy to pay good money when the food is good but there is nothing worse than paying for very expensive meals that are absolutely awful. The massamun was like dish water with loads of star anise and the pad Thai was just an oily mess with no flavour. We only went here as the Thai at West Ballina was closed and we regret it - should have gone elsewhere. (Date of last visit: Sometime in mid-late 2021) This place used to be really good but the last time I ate from here, the food had less flavour than usual. I used to come here with my family quite often, but ever since they moved to the old Ramada, it hasn't been the same. Maybe they've changed ownership but the last time I dined here for a family birthday dinner, most of the dishes which we had weren't as tasty as they were every other time I came here. The food was tasty and the staff were friendly but unfortunately I found it to be very unlike authentic Thai food. It was much more like a commercial franchise of Australian food masquerading as what people expect to be Thai. Unfortunately likewise were the prices that were charged - it was certainly not financially unreasonable as far as a restaurant goes in Ballina but it was definitely not what I would consider to be paying for what you get.
