We always order pho as a benchmark across all Vietnamese restaurants.
The pho taste and its broth is generally nice and within the acceptable standards. The portion is large and definitely more than enough for most people.
However, there’s items missing from the dish that we deemed necessary and critical for the success of this dish.
Firstly , missing Vietnamese leaves that render the taste off. Those fresh mint leaves make a lot of difference to the broth’s taste and feel.
Secondly , there’s no offal ingredient options. The beef combo lot I s just beef and mushrooms and chicken. The missing tripe, softbone, and etc means the dish missed out the whole flavour of pho experience.
Thirdly, the chili has a weird after taste that ruins the taste of the meat. It’s spicy though but I find the aftertaste too much for me. It taste homemade but can’t compare to Sirracha standard. However, the white garlic is really unique and tasty. I’ve never rated that anywhere else.
The beef and chicken are tender and delicious. If only those above items are included, the rating for this dish would have gone higher.

That said, the portion of rice served is quite small, and the prices are on the higher side compared to similar restaurants. Still, the quality of the dishes makes up for it, and the flavors are authentic and enjoyable.
The standout for me was the beef spicy pho. The broth was rich, aromatic, and had just the right kick of heat, while the beef was tender and generous. It’s definitely the dish I’d recommend to anyone visiting.
Overall, Nem Viet is a little pricey, but if you’re after quality Vietnamese food with speedy service, it’s a...
Read moreHad dinner at the Nem Viet on 17/03/23, we had the special of King Prawns and Green Mussels in a coconut chilli based sauce served with rice and entrees of spring rolls and calamari. OMG! Just writing this review is making my mouth water. Absolutely delicous! Calamari was tender and cooked to perfection, spring rolls had lots of flavour and words cannot describe the king prawns and mussels special, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The service and staff were attentive and fantastic. What a little gem of a place that will now be added to our list of regular go to places to eat in Bendigo. Highly recommend. Don't write many reviews but this place...
