I’ll start by saying that we’re not Berry locals. We drove down from Sydney. We were starving, walked past that famous bakery, decided we won’t eat there because there wasn’t suitable seating. Walked on, found this place. It looked decent, established. So we decided to eat there. Ordered a chicken sandwich and a Rueben sandwich and some coffee. Coffee arrived in 10 mins. Food however took 35 mins! Even after us asking about our order. The place wasn’t even busy. To add to our woes, when the waitress brought our food out, because of the slopey table outside, my wife’s sandwich nearly fell off the table when the waitress laid it down (hi Emporium, you might want to straighten those two tables outside). I just managed to save it but not without getting my fingers all mustardy. We were definitely not going to ask for another one! The chicken pieces in my sandwich were way too chunky. Almost like they did this in a hurry without putting too much effort into it. I had to open the sandwich and chop up the chicken. I will say though that the bread was tasty and fresh and my wife’s Rueben sandwich was good despite my fingers having gone through half of it. So, was it just our unlucky day at the cafe or is this consistent with others’ experience? Unfortunately we won’t be going back...

Located conveniently on the main road in Berry, The Emporium Gourmet Café Deli offers a charming setting with both indoor seating and a few outdoor spots for those who enjoy dining al fresco.
We stopped in for breakfast and tried a selection of their offerings. For drinks, we had coffee and a fresh juice. The coffee was decent—nothing exceptional but good enough to kickstart the day. For food, we ordered the three-cheese toastie, the Reuben toastie, and a croissant. Each dish was enjoyable, with the Ruben toastie being a standout for its rich and satisfying flavors.
The service, however, was a bit disorganized. While the staff were friendly, the coordination seemed slightly off, which impacted the overall experience. That said, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the café’s location made it a convenient spot for a casual breakfast.
Overall, it wasn’t the best café experience, but it certainly wasn’t the worst either. If you’re in Berry and looking for a quick bite, The Emporium is worth...
Read moreThis deli came highly recommended to us so it was one of the first stops we went to when we arrived in Berry.
Unfortunately even though the opening hours said it was open, it wasn't. Next day, thankfully, they were open.
They had an alright selection of cheeses, pretty woeful selection of deli meats, alright selection of dry goods, but an epic sandwich board. For a deli, I really expected a lot more. I get a far greater selection of goods from my local IGA!
We all ordered sandwiches to share and some drinks. They were ok, but nothing to rave about. Then we bought some cheeses to take back to our accommodation. They weren't my types of cheeses, but I don't blame the shop for that (just my friends' tastes)!
It seems this business might be after new owners, so I don't know if the love isn't there anymore, but we left...
