Located in the vibrant Portside Wharf precinct, Bird's Nest is a true culinary gem that offers a refined and unforgettable Japanese grilling experience. This restaurant elevates the traditional yakitori concept with a sophisticated approach to both its menu and ambiance. The menu is a testament to the chef's personal vision, showcasing a masterful balance of classic techniques and innovative twists. The seafood is a definite highlight, with each piece prepared with a remarkable freshness that speaks to the quality of the ingredients. From perfectly seared scallops to succulent prawns, every skewer is a delightful revelation. The yakitori itself is exceptional, featuring a range of tender and flavorful meats that are grilled to perfection over binchotan charcoal. The special marinades and sauces offer a subtle yet distinct twist on traditional flavors, demonstrating a deep respect for Japanese cuisine while daring to be unique. Beyond the food, the service is impeccable, and the sleek, modern decor provides an intimate and elegant setting. Bird's Nest is a destination for those who appreciate the finer details of dining, making it a highly recommended spot for a special occasion or a sophisticated evening out.

"High-quality ingredients are prepared and cooked fresh on-site each day" Yeah I don't think so.. All the food is prepared off site. When you order any seafood dish, all they do is take it from the fridge and remove the cling wrap. A lot of items are freshly cooked in the microwave. They're so understaffed that the plates aren't even washed properly. Nothing is prepared and cooked fresh on-site. Stop taking Aussie customers for mugs. In Japan this business wouldn't last a week. *Quit making up more lies to cover your lies. "The truth" you're inviting customers to see is that your food is pre-cooked, pre-portioned elsewhere and just reheated or unwrapped. It's a fact that you can't rebuke and sadly have pride in.

Came for lunch with my husband. The staff who assisted us with yellow highlights was bit rude. Lack of warmth and welcoming. We place order through bar code . Tuna. Bao, chicken skewers, garlic prawn and pork bao as well tofu rice bowl. Food was served fast. But it’s really average. The best of all of it it’s the tofu bowl. The worst is the bao the meat are either too fatty or too dry. And it’s cost 20$ with weekend service charge. I wouldn’t recommend to any of my friends of this place

Food was just... nothing. Skewers are tiny. Like 2cm pieces, 5 pieces per Skewer. 2 skewers - $15. That's gotta be like... $4 meat, overcooked, marinade just tastes like char sui from a jar. Scallops overcooked and chewy. $57 pack isnt enough food. They offered plain steamed rice. Brought me new pork belly when I said the skewers were dry, but the pork belly was pink inside. Too much dry fried onions just slathered on the chicken skewers and all through the mushroom rice. Such a cheap ingredient for such a $12 set of chicken skewers. Again, tiny portion size. Curry was fine. Just a standard japanese curry. Chicken bao was fine but we only ate one. Took the other home. Just very disappointing food. Staff was very nice and attentive, place was clean, but food was just.... bleh. Should have just gone next door for sushi. Not at all...

I’ve visited this restaurant several times, and while the dinner offerings have been somewhat underwhelming—especially given the price—they don’t quite justify the cost. Dishes like steak with salad or grilled chicken are simple and something you could easily prepare at home with better results.

However, the lunch special is a standout, and the main reason we return. The chicken rice bowl with spicy kimchi, mayo, cabbage salad, and spicy fries is absolutely delicious. It's unfortunate that this special is only available as takeaway during dinner hours, but it’s definitely worth it.

We’ll continue coming for the lunch specials, though I’d love to see improvements towards the dinner menu and the crowded...
