It is with a profound sense of dissatisfaction that I write this review of a restaurant that, by all accounts, ought to have been a pleasurable experience. Alas, the contrast between the food, which was indeed excellent, and the service, which was as dismal as any I have encountered, has compelled me to speak plainly.
To begin, it strikes me as an absurdity that a restaurant would accept a reservation for a party of six at 7:30pm, when the kitchen, as we later discovered, closed at 8:00pm. The bar, we were informed, would cease operation a mere half hour later. This lack of foresight or communication on the part of the establishment meant that we were forced to place our orders before all members of our party had arrived, leading to a series of disappointments when certain dishes were presented to diners who had not had the opportunity to choose for themselves.
As for the waitstaff, they were not only unhelpful but shockingly ill-informed. Our server was unable to provide even the most basic details regarding the menu and appeared baffled when we inquired about the house condiments - an oversight which, in a restaurant of any standing, is wholly inexcusable. Worse still, our cocktail orders were bungled, and upon requesting replacements, we were curtly informed that the bar had already closed. This, we were told, without the courtesy of a prior warning, leaving us to wonder if we were ever meant to enjoy our meals in full.
There is a certain subtle hostility that pervades establishments where the staff regard their customers as inconveniences rather than guests. Sadly, this was precisely the impression we were left with. The food was undeniably well prepared, but good food is scarcely enough to salvage a night when the service is so conspicuously lacking in both competence and courtesy.
In summary: excellent cuisine marred by poor service and a level of indifference that borders on disdain. We will not...

Bluegrass BBQ in Albion presents a rather perplexing paradox: a kitchen capable of producing genuinely excellent barbecue, yet seemingly undermined by a service model that prioritizes social banter over customer attention. During a recent visit, the beef brisket, the true litmus test of any American BBQ establishment, proved to be a compelling case in point. While it leaned towards the drier side, a common pitfall even for seasoned pitmasters, its flavor profile was undeniably exceptional. Each bite resonated with a deep, smoky richness, indicative of a well-handled smoking process and quality ingredients. Equally impressive was the accompanying salad with dill, a surprisingly vibrant and exceptionally good counterpoint to the rich meats, demonstrating a culinary finesse beyond the usual BBQ sides. However, the dining experience was unfortunately marred by slack service. It became apparent that the staff's focus was largely directed towards conversations with patrons at the bar, leading to considerable delays and a distinct lack of attentiveness for those seated at tables attempting to order or request assistance. This oversight detracted significantly from what could have been an otherwise superb meal. In essence, Bluegrass BBQ offers a tantalizing glimpse of its culinary potential, particularly with its flavorful brisket and outstanding dill salad. Yet, the overall impression is tempered by a service standard that requires considerable refinement. For those willing to overlook a laid-back, perhaps overly casual, approach to table service, the delicious food may still warrant a visit. However, an improvement in customer-facing operations would undoubtedly elevate Bluegrass BBQ from a promising local spot to a truly exceptional dining...
Read moreWent here for the first time after driving past regularly. Just a 5 min drive from our house it always was busy.
Went in on a Wednesday night and it was packed!! The crowd was such a diverse mix of families, professionals and young groups all enjoying what was on offer.
My partner and I grabbed a table and even though there was only two people serving, we were served in less than 5 minutes of sitting down, impressed! The menu was diverse but stayed true to their vibe - homestyle barbeque! We got the baby back ribs, some buffalo wings ($1 wings!!!!) And some onion fries. Also shared a bottle of wine and we were stoked. The food came out and it was massive. Thankfully the size reflected the price which, for the quality of food and the amount that was there, was acceptable.
I even had an issue with the bathroom door opening and the girl walked all the way outside to help me open it. The service was personable, friendly and warm. The vibe was like going to a small, family owned barbeque joint. I only hated the tv! TVs and restaurants don't mesh (personal opinion) and after a few wines I stopped looking at it.
We took away half of our wings, ate them a few days later and they were still phenomenal. One of our wings was actually a jalapeno Popper (which I was not mad about). The ribs I found were the slightest bit chewy for my taste. I also found the dry rub to be a little ashy, but I was happy smothering them in the two different types of bbq sauce on the plate. I almost wanted more salad to balance the richness (my own pointer for next time).
Such a delightful experience, will definitely be back to try some of the other...
