Had brunch at Artie & Mai today and the whole experience was okay but not impressive. Ordered our usual skinny cap and soy flat white. Did not taste the flat white, but my skinny cap was tasty. The milk was frothed well and the espresso was mutual taste wise. For my coffee, I would rate it a 4 out of 5. Food wise, I took a bit of time to decide and ended up having their spring onion and feta hash cakes with chorizos. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed when the dish was brought to me. As shown in the pic below, the whole thing, which was $20, consisted of three hash cakes, 3 three slices of chorizo and one poached egg on top. For me, I felt like it was underwhelming portion wise, especially for the price they charged. Flavor wise, I thought the hash cakes were above average but not amazing, for what it was lacking. I could barely taste any feta or spring onion. The chorizos were overly salty, but I suppose that should have been expected. Although I did like the fact that the hash cakes were crisply fried. Also, the mayo and pickled cabbage were a good addition, which spiced up the dish. My partner ordered their mushroom on croissant, which in comparison was a much better choice, both portion and flavor wise. The croissant was toasted perfectly with a crust that formed on the bottom. The combo of cheese and mushrooms was heavenly. In general, I would rate the food 4 out of 5, with mine 3 out of 5. Service wise, we both agreed it was up to standard. The staff were welcoming and friendly. In general, like I said, it was an okay experience but I had wished the food could have been better.

Artie and Mai has become one of my go to morning or brunch destinations, and I find myself returning time and time again, no matter the occasion. Whether it's a work meeting or a casual catch-up with friends, this place never fails to impress. One of the things that stands out about Artie and Mai is its ability to cater to a diverse range of customers. I've noticed people from all walks of life enjoying their experience here, just like me. This versatility is a testament to the restaurant's great styling, attentive staff, and inviting atmosphere, which make it easy to feel right at home. Without fail, every dish I've had at Artie and Mai has been exceptional. Their menu is thoughtfully curated, and no matter what I order, I am consistently blown away by the flavors and presentation. And let's not forget about their coffee—it's simply delightful. If you're on the fence about trying Artie and Mai, let me assure you that you won't be disappointed. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a place to unwind, this restaurant has it all. Give them a try, and prepare to return!

Updated review: Unfortunately, I came here for their home made ice teas but instead was served Lipton iced tea - I wish they would have told me that its Lipton when I ordered. Also, I called prior to confirm their opening times and mentioned i'm coming for a drink and do some work and the person on the phone was so welcoming but didn't mention that they don't have wifi. When I asked for Wifi at the restaurant the waitress said "yeah sure let me get it for you!" but then came back and said "sorry... we don't have the password..." - basically didn't want to share it seemed, which is fine but had I known earlier when I called it would have been appreciated. Then I ordered the fried calamari and it was so salty :( Not the best experience this time around, which is unfortunate as I live locally. Perhaps an off day or new management. Previous review: Not the best pictures at all but food was delicious. They make amazing ice teas. The fish tacos were really good too. Love the space, parking is a bit hard but manageable!

Come here twice one really good experience and one really bad experience. The good experience was great! Came with a friend nice and early around 8 and we got to sit inside, the staff were so lovely and she came to check on us to see if we were ready to order, we said we weren’t ready yet and then she came back within a good amount of time! Really good table service honestly! The food was so delicious, we both had the avo on toast and it was amazing. Even got a takeaway Brekky burger for my partner and he loved it! They were prompt and quick and it was great.

So then I said to my partner that we should go there for breakfast since I had such a good experience with my friend. We went on a Sunday morning and a bit later at like 9 and it was a mess. We asked if there was room for the two of us to sit in, they said yes we could sit outside at the little tables which was fine by us because despite the noisy road being right there we knew we would get good food. We were sat there and giving water and menus, we chose what we wanted and waited for someone to come and take our order. We waited for almost 30 minutes with no one batting an eyelid at us, not even an acknowledgement despite us trying to get there attention. Ended up just going up to the counter myself and asking if we could please order, to which the waitress said “oh I didn’t know you were ready”, she never came to check to even see if we were ready. Told her what we wanted to which we were then told “oh sorry we can’t do that one because we are out of them”.

At that point I asked my partner what he wanted instead and then we both just decided to leave as by the time we would even get to order and then would have to wait another 30 minutes for food it would’ve been so long waiting so we just gave up and left and went somewhere else. Which is a shame because the food is good and I had a good experience the previous time but the service really let it down this time. Completely opposite experiences, I suggest if you want a good experience to come very early to get a seat inside and so your getting good...

Sorry to say we had a horrible experience on Sunday. We drove out of our way to try this cafe that had great reviews but ended up waiting for our food for over 1 hour and it still didn't arrive. Our drinks came out quite fast but after that we were forgotten about. We saw 3 tables near us empty, fill up and receive their food before us. We knew someone had done something wrong when no one would look at us as we tried to get their attention. We could see something going on where the order tickets were as they were huddled near it. After about 5mins they sent out a quiet spoken waitress to let us know our food will be another 6-15mins. We told her we're leaving as couldn't wait any longer as it was 10:48am and had been waiting over an hour, we went to the front counter to pay and was only offered a free muffin or coffee - like we want to wait longer. I was disappointed that we had to pay for our 3 drinks after being forgotten about. I understand that it was busy but most waitresses can logically think that the table of 3 still haven't received their food yet but these couples that I had just sat down have. I was sitting with 2 woman who are waitresses and both said they would never had let it go that far before the issue was fixed by the manager. Very disappointed, don't ignore the problem with customers, be honest and explain the...
