Food We pre-ordered their suckling pig 'asador' and decided to go a la carte instead of the share menu.

To start, we went with a selection of small plates including the spanner crab, soffrito, como (basically crab on toast) chicken liver parfait cannoli and some brew bread with bosco butter.

These were all lovely, rich and full of flavour. We moved onto to same share meals of calamari and veal sweatbreads, which again were delicious. The calamari was tender and the veal sweatbreads were one of the night's highlight dishes.

Our main was the signature suckling pig which came with some freshly baked flatbread, hummus and pickled chillies. We decided to add the wagyu rib steak aong with some sides - roasted potato, brussel sprouts and the winter salad.

While the food portions were decent and the food selection was perfect as a hearty winter meal - the mains fell a little short overall.

Both our mains were rich and fatty (in a good way) and needed the right sides to break up these heavy flavours - which ours didn't do unfortunately. As standalone dishes, they were all tasty, however they did not mesh well. While the flatbreads were absolutely fantastic - light, warm and chewy, the rest were a bit of a let down. The brussel sprouts, pickled chilli and winter salad - which consisted mostly of witlof - all had the tinge of bitterness. The hummus and potato had the heavy, creamy taste and feel, adding to the overly rich taste of the meats.

Halfway through the meal, you get the feeling of being everything feeling a bit one note.

Dinner ended on a high note with dessert. We ordered their special of the day - a kind of black forest bomb Alaska, the crema catalana and strawberry triple cream gelato. All these desserts were stunning and was a beautiful way to end the meal - my personal favourite being the gelato - sweet and refreshing with a lovely cheesecake taste and feel.

Service Our waitress was lovely, attentive and helpful, making sure our waters were constantly topped up without needing to be asked. She was very informative of the restaurants menu including all the specials.

Atmosphere The space was lovely and warm with the open kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. There were curtains to separate tables, but honestly did nothing in terms of privacy and blocking any noises throughout the night. Chairs were the hard wooden ones which lends to the overall aesthetic of the place, however considering we were there for almost three hours, it does take a toll on comfort.

Overall Great place to have dinner - would recommend. Just make sure you invite plenty of friends/family to join as the place is very much a shared plate type...

OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE it is not just a restaurant; it is a sanctuary for those who cherish the finer things in life - good food, exquisite wine, and unforgettable moments. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that whispers elegance and comfort. The warm lighting complements the chic, rustic decor, setting the stage for an extraordinary dining experience.

The menu at Bosco is a testament to culinary artistry, a perfect blend of traditional flavors and contemporary flair. Every dish is a masterpiece, crafted with the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients that sing with flavor. The standout for me was the signature grilled steak, cooked to perfection and melting in your mouth, leaving a trail of savory bliss. Paired with a side of their hand-cut truffle fries, it's a combination that elevates simple ingredients to something magical.

But what is a grill without its wine? The wine list at Bosco is both extensive and meticulously curated, featuring a selection from the world's finest vineyards. Whether you're a connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the world of wine, the knowledgeable staff are more than happy to guide you through their impressive selection, ensuring the perfect pairing with your meal.

Service at Bosco | Wine Grill is impeccable. The staff goes above and beyond to make your experience memorable, striking the perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. It's clear they take great pride in their work, adding a personal touch that makes the dining experience even more special.

In conclusion, Bosco | Wine Grill is not just a meal; it's an experience. It's where flavors, ambiance, and service converge to create something truly remarkable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply in search of Brisbane's finest dining, Bosco is a destination that promises to enchant and inspire. A jewel in Newstead's culinary crown, it is unequivocally a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in the art of...

My husband Hugh and I have had Bosco Wine Grill lingering on our must-try list for a while now. But what finally brought us through the door? Not a birthday, not an anniversary… but the need to wash a doona in the industrial washer at Liquid Laundry next door. Romance isn’t dead, darlings, it just comes with a rinse cycle.

As we approached Bosco, we were met with a luxurious, heavy curtain, a dramatic touch that made me feel like I was about to enter a secret supper club. And oh, what a reveal! Inside, a long bar glows invitingly on one side, and the open kitchen with a fire place, hums at the back. The lighting? Moody, but not so dark you need a phone torch to navigate the menu.

We ordered the beef and the crab, and oh my stars, they were exceptional. The beef was so tender. The crab? Divine. Fresh, full of flavour, and presented with finesse. We didn’t go overboard, just the two dishes between us, but they were just right, a Goldilocks moment of deliciousness.

I opted for a mocktail (trying to give my liver a long weekend), and not only was it gorgeous, but the flavour was next level.

Bosco offers rotating menu specials, so there’s always something new to tempt you back. And the locals’ specials? A fabulous excuse to become a regular. There’s an effortless intimacy to the place that made me feel like Hugh and I had the whole restaurant to ourselves.

So if Bosco has been simmering on your “one day” list, consider this your sign. Whether you’re celebrating something special, or just waiting for your laundry to finish, this is a culinary gem that deserves your attention.

We’ll absolutely be back, clean doona...

Cool location with a chic and sophisticated industrial interior design. The nondescript and unassuming entrance fits with the interior vibe. Everything on the menu sounded exciting and intriguing, and also most dishes we ordered looked quite good...but the flavours were a letdown. The cocktails were tasty, well-balanced and cleanly presented. To start, we tried the chicken liver parfait cigar, the Bosco croquetas, and the baccala mantecato. All were interesting concepts, but none were spectacular. My favourite was the cigar. We then had the Galician style octopus. The octopus was well cooked and tender, but appeared to be drowned in its' accompanying red and yellow sauce. The yellow liquid was actually mashed potato, and would probably have benefited from a little more texture/viscosity. Overall a tasty dish, but I think could be better with more textural variety and maybe a bit more octopus. The whiting was one of my favourite dishes, with an interesting and well balanced flavour, apart from the chefs being a little heavy handed with the salt flakes. The fish was cooked perfectly and the skin thin and crispy, adding a nice crunch element to the dish. I also enjoyed the clay pot rice, however it wasn't that different to a paella. The flavours were rich, well balanced and tasty, however unfortunately there was no crispy rice around the edges of the bowl. The asparagus side was average and quite simple. For dessert we tried the torrijas (french toast), which was simple but well executed and tasty, but not exciting. Overall a nice dining experience, but no standout dishes for me to set this apart from the competition.
