Oversold, too crowded, long bottle neck queues at the beginning and congestion throughout, no space between patrons, very poorly planned and managed this year. Why even bother having ticketed times, thought the point was to spread people out for a better experience not pack them in neck to neck in every session. 5 minutes in we just wanted to get out to get some air as people were basically standing on top of us, but you pretty much have to go through to the end as there were no clear exit points.

Too dark and unsafe, not enough staff around to manage the crowd. Not sure how it passed a safety assessment. Parents, hold on to your small kids hands at all times especially around the water. So many accidents, trip hazards and lost kids waiting to happen with the amount of crowding going on and poorly lit paths. Kids will likely get bored shuffling through at a snails pace and constantly waiting for people taking photos. Plus they can't spend time looking at much because of the crowd moving you on from behind or crowding you out. Once you get off the narrow paths it's much better, but that's only at the end.

The checking in process could have been more professionally organised with clear signage, better lighting, and more staff to speed up the process rather than just security yelling at people to keep moving like we were a herd of cattle rather than paying patrons, especially when it wasn't clear where you were supposed to go. Check in staff were very friendly.

Went a few years ago when it was free and it was amazing, raved about it to everyone. Back then you had plenty of space to enter and move freely and enjoy at your own pace. So disappointed how it's gone. The light installations are nowhere near as impressive or extensive as they used to be either with less colourful uplighting than in the past. The atmosphere seemed to lack the class and wow factor it once had. If you're into heaps of rave-like lasers and holograms, not easily overstimulated, or a kid you might enjoy it.

A great concept but sadly the desire to make as much money as possible seems to have trumped other considerations such as safety and a quality customer experience....

This is my second year attending & we felt it was lacking on last year. Felt like there was half as many lights, the tour started from the reverse this year and there were some patches of dreary I thought. Even some fairy light towards the end were very unspectacular and looked like a last minute reject shop addition to display. Maybe I had a higher standard but it was like we got the A team last year and the B teams efforts this year. There’s a reason they were B team. I don’t mind paying the $35 for what I got previous but this year was definitely not worth it. The dragon lizard story was the only storyline thing rather than numerous animals last year, and it didn’t hold my youngest attention, it was boring seeing same but different on those screens. The search for totems , well I didn’t see totems I say I saw symbols or sigils but no totems and don’t get me started on the garden lawn of rattan covered lamps!? Perhaps a information sheet on its meaning might of made it more interesting. If it was meant as a joke, then we did laugh at it reason for being , didn’t really fit with the theme. Previous year included bubbles. This year there was a lot of smoke around which was good, but it was too much smoke in its dispensing. I heard plenty cough. We waited 10mins for our start time, it took only 30 mins with the crowds. It’s advertised as approx 50 min stroll. We were not speeding through, we took photos along the way. I think I’ll be checking reviews before booking next year. We were disappointed. Group of 5 (2 Adults,...

2024 Review: This year disappointed. Last year was far better and more interactive. This year was a bit boring, no 3D Holograms or interesting story, just lights and...more lights. Crowds this year were also very poorly managed. On the plus side, my 6 year old liked seeing the different colours and especially enjoyed the section with bubbles. Personally, I felt it was oversold and overrated as it was like a slow, crowded stampede. People with strollers seemed to have absolutely zero consideration for others, leaving them in the centre of the walkway to trip over while they were off taking a portrait. Too many people were also just stopping in the middle of the path for photos/selfies and holding up the crowd, which has an onflow effect as the sessions are only spaced 15 minutes apart, so more and more people pour in. I felt they need more staff/security on duty to keep the flow moving, and perhaps some dedicated selfie spots rather than allowing people to stop and disrupt the flow. Previous years were far better when tickets were more limited, as it just seems like a crowded free-for-all now. Would I go again next year? Preferably not, but I'll no doubt have to for...

I’d like to start off by saying I’m grateful that Roma Street Parklands had such an event on, it certainly brought great Christmas vibes and it was nice to see people out and about. The volunteers out there doing crowd control and answering questions etc are to be commended for their professionalism whilst being super helpful. Personally, I would have thought for safety reasons, the pathway where people were lining up to get in could have been lit a bit. It was very dark and you had to constantly check your step. I appreciated the staggered entry times so that it wasn’t a huge influx of people at once. This should definitely continue regardless of future covid protocols. Previous enchanted garden shows have been free, so when there was a charge on this event, I expected it to be better. There was no music and the lights were not as plentiful and vibrant. It was definitely better the year before last. All in all, I would still return and support Roma Street Parklands and I look forward to the next event….and hopeful that they improve.
