Gaythorne RSL located 534 Samford Road, Mitchelton. This is a wonderful place to meet & share a good meal, have a drink, or just relax.
Gaythorne RSL has recently undergone major upgrades in the gaming area, the main restaurant & bar areas, with the TAB & sports bar area being relocated to the opposite side of the club nearer to Samford Road.
There is a new user-friendly reception area as you enter through the main entrance.
Where the bottle shop was located now has a newly created cafe called Patisserie's. A great addition to experience when visiting this RSL.
Another excellent improvement has been a total upgrade of the toilets near the new gaming area 👍
On the ground floor level, there is a large spacious seated area for dining when having a meal or a cool drink from the restaurant & bar area's.
Entertainment is located on the ground level at the rear of the main dining area for live music & dancing 💃 🎶
The Gaythorne RSL has an excellent menu selection available that suits all dietary requirements.
Children are well catered with a child caring area located near the restaurant.
This club has all the facilities anyone requires, including a more than adequate gaming area with a large range of poker machines.
There is an excellent Memorabilia display located on the right-hand side as you walk through from the entrance to the RSL.
Adequate parking is available at the rear of the RSL. There is also extra sealed parking available on an adjoining property.
There is excellent disability parking available just near the rear entrance with a ramp for anyone with wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
The Gaythorne RSL has two levels with internal access stairs, which leads to the RSL Sub Branch, where veterans see an RSL advocate for any service related issues. Making an appointment in advance is advisable.
Also located in the upper level of the RSL is a large auditorium where corporate engagement or RSL activities are held.
Gaythorne RSL is located within walking distance to the Mitchelton Station & Brookside Shopping Centre. Both places are located in Osbourne Road.
There is also a designated Brisbane Council Bus station on Samford Road near the Gaythorne RSL, with regular services available.
There is a courtesy bus service available. Once again, contact the friendly reception staff or check their RSL website for more...
Read moreI waited a week and a bit to write this review. This is not a place for veterans on ANZAC day. Every year we have a bad experience here and I won’t be back. From the silly 2 drink limit (who is in a shout on ANZAC day with only one other person) to the over zealous security this place need to stop using RSL in its title. I attended the morning service done by the sun branch. I then went to my daughter’s school for breakfast. I arrived at the club at 9am in a suit tie and medals in order to catch up with old comrades and remember those that are no longer with us to be abruptly asked for our breakfast ticket. As we didn’t have one we were then told to either come back at 10 or pay $10 per head. We begrudgingly paid the $10 and went inside with no intention of eating a second breakfast. Every year it’s something different. From security singling one mate because his had one too many instead of getting him a soft drink or coffee or the stupid 2 drink rule. It’s no wonder the RSL can’t seem to attract younger veterans.
Update 11 May. When the club receives a negative review they will give you a throw away line to contact the club. I did so via email. I stated that my review was pretty clear and asked how they intended to make this a better experience for veterans on ANZAC day in the future. I am yet to...
Read moreHad an issue everytime I've been to this place. Yes thats right, i was silly enough to go back more than once. 2nd last experience - turned up, unfriendly service straight off the bat. The lady behind the counter had a look of hate about her before i even entered the building. Anyway, long story short - after a few minutes or terrible service i was informed i had to sign up... again. Anyway, signed up, paid the dollar. "Oh, the camera's not working". So i never got my membership card that i paid for. Ahh well, moving onto tonights experience. Turned up to go to the bottle shop for a last minute bottle grab. Time is 11:55pm. The sliding doors arnt open. The same person was working behind the counter. Singing away, oblivious to the two customers standing at the door waiting to come in. Anyway we get inside at 11:58pm. Only to be told "you have one minute". We immediately head to the bottle we already pre-planned to get. Before we even walk across the room we get told "oh wait, its midnight now. Cant serve you sorry". So we leave. On the way back to the car i pulled my phone out... 11:59pm. Not quite 12 was it?. So because the lazy employee with the attitude problem behind the desk couldn't be bothered getting off of her arse to do some work, we missed out. Cheers guys....
