GYG Stafford – An Absolute Masterclass in How to Fail at Fast Food ★☆☆☆☆ (Deserves zero stars, but here we are.)
If you're looking for cold food, broken promises, and the slowest drive-thru experience since the invention of the motor vehicle — congratulations, Guzman y Gomez Stafford is your place.
Rocked up at 12:12 am on 27/04/25, full of hope and hunger. The drive-thru was busier than Centrelink on payday, but hey, plenty of staff inside, right? Should be fine. Spoiler: It wasn’t.
Made it to the speaker after enough time had passed to contemplate my existence. I ordered Nacho Fries (because apparently, I enjoy gambling with my emotions), politely begged for them to be hot — and was confidently told, "Fresh chips just came up." Sure, mate. And I'm the Queen of England.
After a spiritual journey behind a conga line of cars moving at the speed of regret, I reached the window at 12:36 am, paid $16.10, and was handed my food faster than a dodgy handshake deal. Instant red flag.
Pulled over to check and — BAM — cold as a polar bear's toes. Looked at the bag sticker: order had been ready at 12:18 am. 18 minutes my poor Nacho Fries sat there, slowly dying a cold, soggy death.
And the food itself?
Tomato so soft it could’ve starred in a soap opera. Guacamole that looked like it was the aftermath of Shrek’s worst night out. A chip portion so stingy it felt like an insult for $16.10. Honestly, I’ve seen kids' meals with more dignity. Oh, and bonus points: delivery drivers walking up to the drive-thru window while cars sit trapped like sad Uber drivers in peak hour traffic. Brilliant system, team. Maybe separate your UberEats and actual drive-thru customers? Wild concept, I know.
This was my third visit, and my third steaming pile of disappointment. Three strikes, GYG Stafford. You're out. Permanently.
Here's the brutal truth: You’re cocky. You think you're untouchable. You’re wrong. Because customers like me — who gave you more chances than you deserved — are DONE. It’s only a matter of time before others catch on too.
Fix your staff. Fix your food. Fix your systems. Or enjoy watching your reputation rot faster than your overripe tomatoes.
One star — because Google refuses to let me give you the flaming trash can emoji you actually deserve.
"Thanks for the memories, GYG Stafford — if I ever crave disappointment again, I’ll just...

Drive through was like bumper to bumper traffic, it’s dinner time so fair enough. Finally get to the window and I try pay, doesn’t work. Not sure why, I said to the guy I’ll come in as it should no biggie things happen. Walked in and had no one at the counter. Waited for close to 10 mins with another person. Finally asked about why I was there and she served the other guy aswell for a pick up. Not sure what the worker was doing before this as wasn’t on the food line. When his order was ready she threw on then bench very rudely clearly has attitude. I payed but not with the lady who was meant to be on the front but with the drive through window guy then continued to wait another 10 mins. Like my food should have been made I was in drive through. Get given food by guy at drive through window who seems to be doing all the work and told to wait for coffee. Another 5 mins goes by and finally someone is making my coffee this girl is dragging her feet. No milk it seemed disappears again. How long does it take to get milk finally comes back with skim mild I ordered full cream, what ever. Watch her make my coffee chewing gum stopping talking to other employees joking telling them to go faster when she was doing nothing. Coffee was a cold milkshake, did she even steam the milk.
Leave after waiting 40 plus mins since entering the drive through. Look at food. All tacos under filled barely anything in them. Same with queso fries barely any food. Consider going back in because the whole meal was meh, that’s another 30 mins, pass.
The male employee at the window was running around doing everything while the rest of the staffs took the piss. The girl taking orders and greeting pick up couriers inside needs to be managed. Chewing gum, slowing working, dragging feet, stopping to talk to others in a busy rush is not a team player. You work in hospitality when it’s busy you lock in, joke around when it’s done. I felt for the guy having to pick up everyone’s slack. Honestly it seemed all the young workers were goofing off on the food line and maybe 1 older lady was working efficiently. Yeah I had a lot of time to analyze the situation.
Location definitely needs to be...
Read moreQuality here is going to hell in a handbasket. While the food itself has always been fairly good, a few things about the service itself are becoming an issue. Despite there often being twelve or more staff on duty here, it can take quite a while to get your order, even if and perhaps especially if you order ahead on line. This sometimes also results in the whole order not being served at once, so that parts, in particular things like fries, are often served stone cold while waiting for other parts. Service at the drive through is no better, with parts of the order often being forgotten. There has also been a tendency to pad out things like burritos with rice rather than a full serve of things like meat and beans. On one occasion I was told that I would not be given of a receipt/tax invoice, when I requested it, because of a printer failure, despite this being a legal requirement. I requested a hand written one and after some argument was grudgingly given one. These practices seem to be, thankfully, limited to our local Stafford GYG as other stores we have tried recently seem to be providing a much higher standard. This is pretty sad as we are generally fond of GYG as our Mexican food...
