I love this restaurant, a Hong Kong-style Cafe restaurant where the West meets the East. A great place to please everyone's palate. They have from traditional jook to rice noodle rolls from the East and on the same menu, you can order a club sandwich to spaghetti from the West. They have a good variety of vegetarian meals as well. Don't forget to ask about their daily set meals, which includes a drink, (extra 50 cents or $1 for iced drinks), a main and a soup for a very affordable price. Ho Lin Wah also has Hong Kong-style desserts, egg tarts are served hot and fresh or you can try HK-style French Toast. NOTE: IT CONTAINS PEANUT BUTTER. If you prefer yours without PB just ask the staff. I have never once disliked anything I have ordered from this restaurant. Their staffs are always accommodating and friendly. I believe most of the time if you treat the wait staff with respect, you most probably will get better service. I have brought many of my family and friends to dine here and every one of them has given Ho Lin Wah high praises. HK-style milk tea, coffee or the best one (coffee and milk tea) ☯️, are rich and strong in flavour. (Note: HK-style drinks are normally quite sweet, if you prefer less sugar just let them know when ordering). It is a must-order in my book. This review enclosed better photos, my family thinks I lack photos taking skills so my beautiful husband has become my photographer. I highly recommend Ho Lin Wah if you are after something more than your local Chinese take away of (bright red, over battered) sweet and sour pork with special fry rice, come and pay this restaurant a visit. I have never been...
Read moreThe beef brisket and beef tendon in curry sauce was not the one I often eat in HK. Not spicy and no fragrant of curry. The beef briskets were diced but still a bit hard and chewy. The worst dish was the panfried rice rolls with beef curry. The rice rolls were sour with stinky smell, just liked they have been chemically treated. And the rice rolls were just slight reheated instead of fully panfried. The stirfried prawn rice with XO sauce were good and serving hot, but I could hardly taste of any XO sauce. The best food I have today was the pork chop bread roll. The pork chop tasted good and the bread roll was crispy outside soft inside. The caramelised onions were missing which made the pork chop bread roll inauthentic! And you have to be aware when biting the bread because the pork...
Read more4 stars for being an authentic Hong Kong place featuring nostalgic interiors and good comfort food. We ordered the pork chop with fried instant noodles which was an instant favourite! The flavours of the pork chop are very good and the noodles cooked perfectly. We also had the bbq pork with xo sauce udon noodles - and the texture of those noodles was gorgeous. The bbq pork, although shredded, still comes through. I'd love to have more of that bbq pork next time.
The iced hong kong milk tea is also bomb! Easily one of my favourites and most authentic HK milk teas in Brisbane.
The egg tart didn't look promising at first glance but don't let it fool you - it's delicious! Warm, toasty, eggy. Simple tart, not too sweet. Great ending to the meal.
Will come back to try...
