An Honest Evaluation of the Rosti Benny at Nundah Corner Cafe & Bistro
Price Breakdown:
Rosti Benny: $18 Mushrooms: $4.50 Bacon: $5.50 Total: $28 Review:
While the visual appeal of the Rosti Benny initially captivated me, the overall dining experience left much to be desired, primarily due to flavor shortcomings.
Commendably, the poached eggs were executed to perfection, boasting a delightful runny consistency, and the plate's presentation was aesthetically pleasing. However, the allure seemingly faded as I delved into the components of the dish.
The mushrooms, hollandaise sauce, and bacon, unfortunately, failed to deliver on the promised flavor. Each element appeared lackluster, leaving me questioning whether my initial positive impressions were swayed by the dish's visual charm.
Regrettably, the most significant letdown was the potato rosti—a culinary disappointment that I can only describe as crumbed sludge. What was anticipated to be a crispy and flavorful element turned out to be a small, underwhelming portion of mashed or excessively moist potato encased in a deep-fried crumb. This not only diminished the dish's overall quality but also left me wishing for a heartier rosti, especially considering its relatively small size compared to other cafes.
The inclusion of bacon and mushrooms did little to justify the steep $18 price tag for the standard Rosti Benny. On closer inspection, I found the menu to be overpriced, challenging my initial perception of its affordability.
While the cafe staff demonstrated efficiency in seating patrons promptly and providing timely water service, I couldn't help but notice a lack of engagement regarding customer feedback. A simple inquiry about the meal, even during the checkout process, would have allowed me to express my concerns constructively.
In conclusion, despite the commendable service, the Rosti Benny at Nundah Corner Cafe fell short of expectations, primarily due to flavour deficiencies and a less-than-impressive rosti. I offer this critique with the hope that it contributes to the continual improvement of the...
Read moreDear. Business owner We went to your cafe today - 13th July Saturday around 10:00am, so you can find out who’s working. And one of your staff was extremely rude to us.( if I could describe her looking, young lady with big ring earrings and wearing “playboy” hoodie on that day)My husband and I arrived first and we kindly asked if you have table for 6 and she didn’t even check and straight away said “No” but we can see the empty table inside and outside. So we double checked with her if the outside one is also not available too. And she just let us sit one of the inside table, i mean in this case why say no to us? After that my friends arrived and we ordered some coffees first. We ordered to man staff and he was kind. But that lady again, she served the coffee and she spilled my friend’s matcha latte on my seat, but she just wiped herself first and the floor but she didn’t even wipe my chair. At this point I was so upset because it kinda looks like she did it on purpose. Anyways I kindly informed her that she hasn’t wipe my chair yet. It’s kinda hard to explain but She wiped in a very very rude way and she came and asked us if we wanted to order food hahahaha of course we said “No” because we ruined our mood and we don’t want to spend single dollars from you anymore because of her!! This was the worst hospitality service in my life. I am running Thai restaurant in Ascot and I felt so sorry for the owner who is losing his or her customers because of this terrible staff. I am certainly sure you can find someone who is willing to work in hospitality field. Anyway when we leave, I don’t want to show my anger in front of my friend’s kids who is only 10 years old. so I did say “Thank You” to that lady, of course she totally ignored us. And the kid said “ how come that lady didn’t even say you’re welcome “ hope you can make wise decisions after reading my review. Thank you Update: the...
Read moreI was a very big fan of Jam so was keen to try its replacement, and I had high hopes. Unfortunately I was left very disappointed. We went for breakfast this morning and while the place looks gorgeous, it was not a great experience. The coffee was actually quite good and apparently the juice was good too, however we then waited about an hour for our food to come out, which would have been fine if it was good quality when it did arrive but alas this was not the case.
I got avo on toast which comes with pumpkin hommus and Haloumi for an extra $2. In my opinion it is pretty hard to mess up avo on toast but they managed. It came out on dark rye "toast" but the bread had barely been toasted at all, and it had the smallest amount of avocado imaginable. It was supposed to be avo on toast with pumpkin hommus, not the other way around. Very average, probably the worst avo on toast I have EVER had. Their only saving grace was that apparently the Corner Stack was pretty good. If you are going there just get a coffee and the corner stack, leave the rest.
Basic summary: Seriously overpriced for what you get, average food, long wait time. I have no problem paying a bit extra if what you receive is good quantity and quality but that could not be further from the truth with this place. Bring back...
